Hours of work: 21 hours (3 days) per week to be worked flexibly

Opera North is looking for a well-motivated individual to fill the role of community partnerships assistant. 

Working with our local communities is central to Opera North’s vision to be a truly relevant and welcoming organisation. Our community partnerships programme has been running for 7 years and reaches over 100 community groups across the city region. As a Theatre of Sanctuary we welcome and support refugees and asylum-seekers into our buildings and at our performances.

Opera North is England's national opera company in the north. Based in Leeds, we are committed to producing work of the highest quality that excites, challenges and entertains. Acclaimed for its imaginative programming and innovative productions on the main stage, Opera North also programmes the more intimate Howard Assembly Room, with an enormous diversity of activity.

Working in a small, dedicated team, you will have excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritise under pressure. You will share our belief that music and the arts are for everyone, and an interest in working with a wide range of communities.

 

Knowledge, skills, experience

We would like to hear from you if you are:

  • Educated to at least GCSE Grade C Level (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics 
  • Computer literate
  • Have knowledge of communities that might usually have barriers to engaging with the arts
  • Experience of basic administrative procedures such as handling data, managing email inboxes and minute taking
  • Have knowledge of the refugee community and the asylum-seeking experience
  • Have knowledge of Spektrix booking system or other Box Office system
  • An interest in the arts
  • Communication skills, including confidence in telephone communication
