Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum dependent on experience 

Contract: Full-time – 37 hours per week, however flexible working will be considered

Support the financial management and strategic priorities of a busy art gallery in this exciting senior role.

The Hepworth Wakefield has welcomed over 2.5 million visitors since opening in May 2011 and is now established as one of the most successful public art galleries in the UK, attracting critical acclaim and audiences from around the world.

The Director of Finance & Operations leads on our IT strategies and oversees the financial management and performance of The Hepworth Wakefield and THW Enterprises Ltd. They work closely with the Deputy Director to support the development and implementation of the organisation’s business plan and they lead the finance team to ensure that THW is appropriately and confidently resourced into the future. They line manage our highly experienced Head of People and Head of Operations and Visitor Services, ensuring they are supported to deliver effective services across these areas. They also act as company secretary to the board of trustees, ensuring legal compliance and good practice is applied across the organisation.


Knowledge, skills and experience

  • A Chartered Accountancy qualification or equivalent (such as ICSA or higher education including a high proportion of accounting study), or in exceptional circumstances, qualified by proven equivalent experience
  • We are looking for a senior finance professional with extensive experience within a similar organisation. 
  • You will have a proven creative entrepreneurial outlook, highly collegiate style, excellent communication skills, and be someone who enjoys working collaboratively to achieve results at a high level as part of a small team. 
  • You will need a clear understanding of our sector, enjoy relationship-building and leading a team to support them to achieve the organisation’s objectives.
