Learn valuable skills and gain hands-on experience in the field of post-production in this 12-month traineeship with The 10 Group. 

The 10 Group is a fully integrated global marketing and communications agency that builds ambitious businesses and brands. The agency develops brave, simple strategies leveraging human-empowered technology. Its digital-first activations cut through the noise, commanding attention in news tickers and social feeds. The 10 Group produces a wide range of content, including films, social media assets, and design.

Recruiting in partnership with Creative Access, The 10 Group is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Edit Suite Intern to support its post-production team. This role offers hands-on experience with industry-standard editing software, involving tasks such as editing, organising, and preparing video and audio content. The intern will collaborate closely with editors, producers, and other team members to ensure a smooth workflow and timely delivery of projects.

 

Key activities

  • Assist in logging and organising footage, audio, and assets
  • Support the editing team with basic editing tasks, including cutting, trimming, and sequencing
  • Help with the creation and management of project files and media
  • Maintain a well-organised edit suite and ensure all equipment is functioning
  • Participate in team meetings and gain exposure to the post-production process
  • Perform other duties as required by the team
  • Help with archiving of content.


What you will learn

Video editing software proficiency

  • Learn industry-standard tools: Gain practical experience with editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects & DaVinci Resolve.
  • Basic and advanced editing techniques: Learn how to trim, cut, sequence, and edit audio-visual content efficiently.
  • Colour correction & grading basics: Understand how to enhance the look of footage using color grading tools.
  • Special effects and transitions: Get familiar with creating smooth transitions and simple effects.

Media management & organisation

  • File management: Learn how to organize media assets effectively, ensuring easy access and smooth workflow during editing.
  • Project setup: Understand how to structure and set up editing projects, including handling large amounts of media.

Post-production workflow

  • Collaboration with editors and producers: Gain insight into the collaborative nature of editing by assisting in team-based projects.
  • Rough cuts and assembly: Learn how to assemble a rough cut of a project and assist in refining the final version.
  • Exporting and delivery: Understand how to export videos in various formats for different platforms (web, broadcast, social media, etc.).

Creative development

  • Storytelling through editing: Learn how to shape a narrative through the editing process, focusing on pacing, timing, and rhythm.
  • Visual and audio aesthetics: Understand the importance of both visual appeal and audio clarity in creating a polished final product.

Technical skills

  • Troubleshooting editing equipment: Develop basic skills in maintaining and troubleshooting editing hardware and software.
  • Understanding codecs and compression: Learn about video codecs, bitrates, and how compression affects video quality.

Professional industry knowledge

  • Real-world experience: Gain a behind-the-scenes look at how professional post-production teams operate.
  • Feedback and revision process: Learn how to receive constructive feedback and implement revisions based on client or director input.

Networking & industry exposure

  • Collaboration with other departments: You will also have the chance to interact with producers, directors, sound designers, and other team members, expanding your network.

Portfolio development

  • Build a reel: As an intern, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, contributing to your personal portfolio of editing work.
  • By the end of your internship, you’ll not only have improved your technical and creative editing skills but also gained valuable insights into the post-production process that will help you succeed in the industry.
