Help create, develop and implement an annual events calendar in this entry-level career booster with Channel 4.

If you are looking for an opportunity to gain work experience and a qualification, then an apprenticeship at Channel 4 might be for you. These apprenticeships are aimed at school leavers and people who do not have a degree (full eligibility criteria below).

Our Apprenticeships are full-time, with four days per week spent working in a C4 department and one day per week completing the formal learning parts of the apprenticeship. You’ll spend 60% of your working week in your office base and 40% working from home. The formal training provided will consist of workshops, tutorials, webinars, coaching and in some cases residential boot camps. You can read more about the qualification being offered for this apprenticeship below.

Corporate Relations is a business-leading function responsible for promoting, protecting and enhancing the Channel 4 brand and reputation amongst stakeholder groups. Working across the organisation, it is a strategic, aligned and proactive matrixed function that comprises the Corporate Communications & Campaigns team, the Corporate Brand team and the Events & Engagement team, which this apprenticeship is based in.

The Events & Engagement team is a busy and proactive team responsible for utilising live experiences to build relationships with key business stakeholder groups. It works with departments from across the entire organisation to curate, design and deliver events of all shapes, sizes and tones, and seeks to enable cross-collaboration between departments to encourage better return on investment.

In this role, you’ll report to, and primarily support, the Events & Engagement Lead on the Commissioning & Publicity patch – but as we’re a small agile team, there will also be opportunity to work on events with other members of the team across other parts of the business.

Your role will be to support the Events & Engagement Lead in the creation, development and implementation of our annual events calendar. Evidently, specific responsibilities will vary by project, but the successful candidate can expect to perform the following tasks;

  • Idea generation for new events concepts, suppliers and venues.
  • Guestlist management.
  • Supplier management on specific briefs to ensure on time and in budget delivery.
  • Responsibility for accommodation and travel requirements for guests and on-screen talent attending our events.
  • Collation and creation of visual event assets.
  • Market research for the latest event trends and event tech.
  • Ad hoc event support.

At the beginning of your apprenticeship, you will be supporting on events managed by the team around you – but as you grow in your role, you’ll take increased responsibility culminating in owning and delivering your own events towards the latter stages of your apprenticeship.

As this is an event role, the successful candidate will need to be able to work numerous evenings and undertake occasional trips within the UK as part of their role. In these circumstances, time in lieu will be offered and for ‘late-night’ or ‘away from home’ events, Channel 4 will pay for transportation or accommodation where appropriate.
