This is a unique and varied opportunity for a self-motivated individual looking to launch their career in rights.

Supporting a busy and dynamic foreign rights team selling rights worldwide. You will use your initiative and multi-tasking skills to support the sales and administrative needs of the team and liaise closely with a number of internal teams such as design, editorial, publicity and marketing. This is an exciting opportunity to work with Walker on new debuts, award winning and best-selling children’s books with customers from around the world, across a wide range of formats such as picture books, non-fiction, novelty and major licensed brands. ​

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with internal creative teams regarding the availability of files for new titles and regular attendance at work in progress meetings
  • Manage the department’s supply of finished copies and printed marketing materials
  • Update databases and mailing lists
  • Manage bookings and logistics for book fair attendance and sales trips
  • Provide support on compiling book fair catalogues and other presentations
  • Manage print and email submissions to publishers, and keep records of interest up to date
  • Request co-edition print costs and schedules from production

Knowledge, skills, experience

  • Interest in international publishing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time-management, organisational and administrative skills, with a close eye for detail and keen awareness of deadlines
  • Able to use initiative and work calmly under pressure with a ‘can-do’ / proactive approach to problem solving
  • An appreciation of the importance of sales support to business development
  • Enjoy working with, and making a positive contribution to, a busy and dynamic team
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft office applications
  • A willingness to travel to international book fairs and on sales trips, as the role develops

Desirable

  • Foreign language skills advantageous, but not essential
