Produce and engineer high quality audiobooks in this technical audio role at a leading publisher.

What you'll be doing

In this This Part-Time 3 days per week (Mon to Weds) role, you will be producing and engineering audiobooks in an end to end process that covers directing readers with varying levels of skill, recording using Protools DAW, editing, preparing for QC, final fix, mastering and delivery of files to our internal publishing colleagues.

This busy and exciting role is right at the heart of  the audiobook creation process, with our studios being on site and part of a major publishing group, we are very close to the entire process.


Who we are looking for

  • A wide range of skills are required for this role at our London Studios
  • We are seeking someone who is comfortable working with professional voice artists, stage and screen talent and our authors
  • Being able to direct people with different levels of skill is a must for this position and you'll need to demonstrate a professional and confident manner of communication when producing, to ensure the best performance is captured
  • You should be happy to work across any genre as produce audiobooks across the entire HUK list.
  • A high level of technical skill something we look for in our producers, including a comprehensive knowledge of our software tools - Protools, Izotope RX, and Waves
  • We require you to have a strong understanding of recording voice and using physical hardware including condenser microphones, solid state preamps and audio interfaces, needed to ensure high quality recordings are always made
  • As part of our editing process, we use a range of tools to bring the recordings to our in house standards, we would expect a good all round knowledge of the Protools editing workflow and Iztope RX for you to achieve this
  • You will also need to be familiar with the standard mastering and metering tools from Avid and Waves and understand loudness concepts including RMS and LUFs measurements and be able to deliver masters to Audible Spec.
  • There will be a need from time to time to produce remotely and edit work from external studios.
  • Experience of working with archive servers, file transfer, 0365 and Adobe Acrobat or other PDF readers is also desired.
