Publicity manager / senior publicity manager, Adult Trade
Salary range: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience
Reports to: Head of Publicity, Adult Trade
Location: Victoria House, Bloomsbury Square, London
Working pattern: Hybrid - minimum of two days per week in the office; up to three days per week working from home

An exciting opportunity has come up in the Bonnier Books UK adult trade publicity team for a dynamic PR professional who will be responsible for their own authors and campaigns.
In this role, you’ll be running publicity campaigns across our entire adult trade list, fiction and non-fiction, with a particular focus on our upmarket and literary imprints, Manilla Press, Ithaka Press and Footnote Press.
You will work autonomously on campaigns as well as help shape the strategy for our books, authors and imprints. You will work closely with the rest of the team to inform our acquisition and publishing decisions, set priorities, deliver exceptional author care, and help bring new authors into the group.
This is a fun, busy and exciting role and requires an individual who can juggle numerous tasks, prioritise effectively, and remain calm under pressure.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and execute PR campaigns for allocated titles
- Measure campaigns performance against set KPIs and provide consistent analysis
- Actively contribute to strategic and planning discussions with their department head and team
- Work closely with the publishing team, actively participating in acquisition, positioning, and packaging discussions to align publishing decisions with the book’s target audience
- Work closely with the sales team to identify promotional opportunities across the front and backlist
- Be the primary point of contact internally for their authors and allocated campaigns, and manage author-facing discussions as required
- Demonstrate an ability to build strong long-term relationships with key publishing media as well as authors
- Establish a solid network of bookseller and industry-side contacts, and network at events
- Plan and manage events for authors, launches and showcases.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Strong track record of delivering successful adult fiction and non-fiction publicity campaigns, ideally upmarket long-lead fiction and news-agenda-led non-fiction
- Experience managing budgets, reporting on KPIs and a proven ability to adapt publicity strategies to key audiences
- Excellent communication skills, and an ability to work effectively and collaboratively with internal team members and external stakeholders
- Ability to identify key components to create a successful campaign, deliver according to sales targets, and prioritise effectively
- Skilled in author development and developing long-term strategies to build and grow consumer awareness
- Success at this level requires a high level of execution in terms of meeting deadlines, targets, and quality expectations
- Ability to operate with a solid level of autonomy and prioritise effectively
- Consistently delivers on campaigns to meet or exceed targets
- Pro-active in raising potential issues, working with management to identify solutions and opportunities to do better
- Is reactive, flexible, and able to deliver ad-hoc short-term projects as required
- Demonstrates exceptional media management, and ability to deliver high-profile press placements across print, digital and broadcast on a regular basis
