Calling all UK-based composers... are you a freelancer working in music composition or sound design who’s looking to step up and progress your career?

We are partnering with award-winning, Hollywood film composer; Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible, Top Gun: Maverick, Bad Boys For Life) who has sponsored 12 funded places on Thrive – Creative Access’ unrivalled year-long career development programme. What to expect? 12 months of training, networking and support for mid-level talent, created by and for people from communities that are historically under-represented in the creative industries. Please note this opportunity is only open to those based in the UK, we are particularly keen on hearing from individuals based in Scotland or of Scottish descent.

Unlock your potential through mentorship, leadership training, and networking opportunities in this exciting programme.

The scheme will commence in Mid-July 2024 and includes:

  • Workshops covering topics such as sustaining a successful freelance career, navigating imposter syndrome and developing your leadership presence
  • Mentoring by a senior industry professional for 6 months
  • Networking events and bespoke masterclasses
  • Free and discounted tickets to cultural events
  • Q&A session with Lorne Balfe!

Participants can expect to increase influence, develop a leadership mindset, have increased confidence to advocate for equal access to training, pay rises and promotions, build contacts and working relationships across sectors, and take strides to achieve career objectives.

Lorne Balfe shares:

It’s great to be able to partner with Creative Access on their Thrive: development programme. I grew up in Scotland which is a hub of immense talent that can at times get overshadowed amongst the more known places such as London and Los Angeles. I feel a responsibility to be able to give opportunities back to the landscapes that inspired me and to help creatives who are historically under-represented in their industries.
