Silverback Films specialises in the production of high quality wildlife films for both television and cinema, producing for broadcasters including BBC, Netflix, Disney and YouTube. Formed in 2012 by Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey, Silverback Films brings together a world class team of wildlife film makers to create the highest quality natural history films.

They are excited to be looking for a trainee researcher to join one of their teams for 12 months. This role would suit people from a variety of backgrounds who are seeking to bring their skills to film-making. No qualifications are necessary but applicants with an interest in natural history, film & TV and good storytelling skills will get the most out of this opportunity!

 

What you will learn

  • Television research: internet research, information gathering and presentation
  • Basic editing and adding metadata and key words (logging) to footage
  • Presentation skills: working with Keynote and PowerPoint
  • You will learn how to use equipment and will gain photography knowledge

 

Knowledge, skills, experience

  • You should be creative and organised and looking to develop your research skills
  • A keen interest in TV and film
  • Good storytelling skills are as important as the ability to take an innovative, ambitious and imaginative approach to developing content ideas and being able to dig out stories and uncover areas of research
  • You should be curious, have a good work ethic and excellent communication skills
