Join an exciting virtual programme designed for individuals keen to enter the world of PR.

Missive is an award-winning integrated PR & communications consultancy specialised in technology. We were founded with the aim of delivering a positive impact to our clients and to the lives of our staff. It is why we were named PR Week’s Best Small Agency to Work For 2023.

We are passionate about supporting the next generation of PR professionals to enter the industry and particularly encouraging much-needed diversity in our sector. This is why, back in 2020, we launched MARS, Missive Academy Rising Stars.

Eight months a year, we welcome eight entry-level PR hopefuls onto our virtual programme and give them the opportunity to learn about PR agency life first-hand, receive on-the-job training, and work on a simulated brief with support from the Senior Leadership Team at Missive.

MARS is a PRCA-accredited programme, designed to give those who are keen to enter the world of PR the edge in interviews to secure entry-level roles.

MARS is completely free to participate and runs virtually. It requires a time-commitment of 8-10 hours over the course of a calendar month and 80% of the time commitment can be done at a time to suit you. The programme is about learning and further accreditation. It is an unpaid opportunity, and we will not ask you to complete any work on behalf of Missive.

This programme is for you if:

  • You are based in the UK.
  • You are a school leaver, are in your final year or have graduated from further education studies or are considering a career change and are interested in learning more about what a job in PR might entail.
  • You are new to the PR industry and have not been employed in full or part-time capacity in a PR role in the past or, at most, have completed an internship or work experience in PR.

The month-long programme involves:

  • A live virtual introductory session with Missive’s Co-Founder and Head of the MARS programme, bringing to life the reality of working in PR, how the industry works, and the different opportunities available to entry-level candidates.
  • Following pre-recorded training sessions from PR experts at Missive, covering topics such as how PR fits within the marcomms mix, creating a PR story, writing for PR, media relations, and digital PR.
  • One-to-one mentoring with a member of the Missive team.
  • Working on a simulated live brief, that will give you portfolio of work showcasing your attained PR skills.
  • An inspiring keynote from a senior member of the PR industry outside of Missive, who will offer a different perspective of what it is like to work in the PR industry.
  • An opportunity to collaborate with other participants and build the foundations of your personal PR network.
  • A live virtual graduation ceremony to close the programme, with final feedback and advice from Missive’s Senior Leadership Team, and Head of the MARS programme.

All sessions will be held online.

Upon completion, you will leave the programme with:

  • Your own portfolio of work which is yours to update and use in future job interviews and applications.
  • Personal mentorship experience including written feedback and bespoke advice on your areas for development.
  • A certificate co-signed by the PRCA as evidence of your completion.
  • Missive’s guide to entering the world of PR.
  • Access to ongoing support and advice from Missive.
