Work behind the scenes of live comedy, supporting the promotion and delivery of tours, festivals, and podcast shows across the UK.

Plosive is an award-winning production company, creating live comedy shows and audio content. We produce live comedy across the country, including solo shows and tours with artists including Tim Key, Nish Kumar, Sara Pascoe, Sindhu Vee, Amy Gledhill, Paul Foot, Harriet Kemsley, James Acaster, Jessica Fostekew and Nick Helm. We run large-scale gigs in London, produce the Wells Comedy Festival in Somerset, and promote live shows of hit podcasts including Off Menu and Films to be Buried With. We also produce audio and video comedy podcasts including Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster, Sara & Cariad’s Weirdos Book Club, Single Ladies In Your Area, Lucy & Sam’s Perfect Brains and Northern News.

Plosive is looking for an Assistant Live Promoter to support the Live Promoter in delivering and marketing Plosive’s live comedy tours and shows. This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate with a passion for live comedy to play an integral role in the expansion of Plosive’s live events output and work on a vast variety of projects, including touring shows, festivals – including the Edinburgh Fringe and Wells Comedy Festival - line-up shows and live podcasts.

What you'll be doing

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Assisting the Live Promoter, Company Director and Head of Producing with delivering Plosive’s live shows
  • Liaising with venues to secure availability and confirm dates
  • Organising and booking travel and accommodation
  • Communicating and liaising with agents and artists
  • Supporting with the coordination and delivery of marketing campaigns
  • Delivering campaigns to agreed budgets, to maximise ticket sales, and reach targets
  • Liaising directly with venues and third party ticket agents to co-ordinate marketing activity
  • Managing print deliveries and distribution
  • Monitoring ticket sales and, working with the Live Promoter, delivering reactive campaigns accordingly
  • Coordinating paid digital marketing campaigns
  • Liaising with external PR companies to manage press campaigns for live shows and podcasts
  • Writing press releases and updating listings
  • Updating social media accounts and websites, including artists websites
  • Creating and subtitling promotional videos for social media
  • Overseeing and scheduling social media content
  • Drafting copy and delivering targeted e-newsletters
  • Maintaining and managing email databases in line with current data protection rules and regulations
  • Fielding phone calls and incoming emails
  • Office administration: ordering supplies, booking contractors, arranging deliveries
  • Assisting at Plosive shows, particularly press nights
  • Representing Plosive at comedy and arts events and festivals in the UK and potentially abroad, developing relationships within the industry and acting as an ambassador for Plosive’s work
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in contemporary live comedy and podcasts
  • General support and other duties as required by the role

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

Essential

  • A passion for and knowledge of the UK comedy landscape
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management and the ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • IT skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Docs
  • Knowledge of different social media platforms and trends and skills in managing these
  • The willingness and dedication to learn new skills as required

Desirable

  • Experience of working in live comedy
  • Experience in live arts marketing
  • Experience of using Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
  • Experience of working on live touring shows
  • Experience of working at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe or in other festival environments

Terms and Conditions

Title of post: Assistant Live Promoter

Hours: 35 hours per week, full time. We welcome conversations about working flexibly.

Due to the nature of this role regular evening and weekend work will be required, and some travel will be required. Relocation to Edinburgh for the month of August may be required depending on Plosive’s Edinburgh Fringe presence each year.

Location: London-based office (SE1), with some working from home possible.

Contract: Permanent, with a three-month probationary period.

Holiday entitlement: 20 days per year, plus additional or substitute Public or Bank Holidays as are decided by the Company.

Notice period: 1 month.
