We are currently looking for a communications assistant to join our Marketing and Communications team on a full time fixed term contract until 3rd November 2026.

Southbank Centre, the largest arts centre in Europe and the UK's 5th most visited attraction, is at the heart of London’s cultural life. Spanning 11 acres, this iconic venue offers a diverse range of great art and culture, bringing people together through unforgettable experiences.

This role works with both the Press and External Affairs Teams providing efficient and effective administration support. You will be joining a team of nine people and will be managed by the Communications and External Affairs Manager with a dotted line to the Press Officer. Day-to-day tasks involve supporting event management including guest lists, responding to ticket and image requests from journalists, maintaining a central media database, maintaining a central stakeholder database (CRM), contributing to monthly programme listings that we send out to journalists, and drafting content for the organisation’s LinkedIn page.

The annual salary stated is based on the Full-Time Equivalent (40 hours per week). If the job is part-time, the weekly hours will be stated within the advert.

Key responsibilities

  • General administrative support to the Press and External Affairs team
  • Handling enquiries from journalists when they request or are offered tickets for events
  • Manage Press ticket allocations liaising with the media, Ticketing Team and Event Managers
  • Monitoring the busy Press inbox and responding to image request enquiries
  • Supporting the Communications and External Affairs Manager with drafting content for the company LinkedIn page
  • Supporting with guest list management and invites for Press, External Affairs and other key events
