
Communications executive (marketing and campaigns)
Salary: £36,950.00 per annum

Develop and deliver campaigns that support audience growth and engagement for the National Gallery.
The National Gallery is an art museum in Trafalgar Square in the City of Westminster, in Central London, England. Founded in 1824, it houses a collection of over 2,300 paintings dating from the mid-13th century to 1900.
The National Gallery has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Executive (Marketing and Campaigns) to join the Communications Team. The Gallery has ambitious goals for the growth and engagement of its audiences for the next five years, and this role will play a vital part of helping deliver projects which respond to the Audience Strategy.
This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of campaigns, from concept through to delivery and evaluation, to help achieve audience and product goals in line with the Gallery’s strategic objectives. We are looking for someone keen and motivated to provide the proactive approach to campaigns that’s required to help us maintain and enhance the Gallery’s global reputation.
Scope of job
- Manage a portfolio of campaigns, from concept through to delivery and evaluation, to achieve audience and engagement goals in line with the Gallery’s strategic objectives
- Manage -10 campaigns per year, including promotion of income generating activity contributing to ∼£3-5 million revenue for the Gallery
- Allocate and manage campaign budgets totalling ∼£500k per year
- Work with product owners and internal stakeholders to understand the Gallery’s programme, collaborating with external agencies and partners to interpret this into effective marketing strategies
- Brief the Data & Insight team on insight requirements to inform campaign development and optimisation
- Manage the media agency relationship to ensure the strategic and efficient planning, booking and delivery of advertising across a range of channels, on time and to budget
- Produce and deliver integrated marketing plans and present to key stakeholders
- Deliver effective creative assets by briefing and managing relationships with internal teams, external agencies and production companies
- Ensure campaigns deliver a consistent and first -class brand experience and minimise reputational risk by actively managing and monitoring advertising placements
- Continuously analyse campaign performance, researching and testing new ideas and platforms to ensure activity is as effective as possible
- Deliver and present campaign reports to key stakeholders
- Capture campaign learnings to increase the efficiency and evolve future activity
- Establish and maintain productive interdepartmental and external relationships
- Represent the Gallery at external events (when required) amongst the Art & Culture sector, building professional relationships and acquiring commercial insight
Key required skills
- Project management – experienced in managing a portfolio of projects simultaneously, with demonstrated ability to balance and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
- Marketing channel knowledge - proven tactical knowledge of core offline and online marketing channels, with an understanding of how they can work together to deliver full -funnel campaigns
- Budget management – experienced in allocating and managing project income and expenses
- Copywriting – excellent copywriting and proofreading abilities
- Reporting – confident in evaluating and reporting on campaigns against agreed performance metrics
- Decision making – working independently to understand, manipulate and interpret data to inform strategic decisions. A high level of initiative, whilst also knowing when to consult Marketing Manager or Senior Digital Marketing Manager
- Communication – build, develop and maintain relationships with internal and external colleagues through excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Commercial awareness – curious and culturally engaged, aware of trends, developments, and successful campaigns in the Art & Culture sector. Continuously seeking new or expanded opportunities for the Gallery to ensure we stand out against competitors
