Bloomsbury Publishing Plc is looking for a dynamic, creative and forward-thinking digital marketing executive to work across an exciting and varied list of fiction and non-fiction, with such authors as George Saunders, Madeline Miller, Rutger Bregman, Elizabeth Gilbert and many more. The role will also include a key focus on Head of Zeus, whose authors include Elodie Harper, Dan Jones, Min Jin Lee and Richard Dawkins. Reporting directly to the director of digital marketing and working alongside both the digital marketing and marketing teams, you will be responsible for assisting key digital marketing campaigns, supporting the running of Bloomsbury’s creator programme (Bloomsbury Creator Circle) and driving community engagement across Bloomsbury and Head of Zeus social accounts.

The ideal candidate will be immersed in the world of social media and highly proficient in creating short-form videos for TikTok and Instagram Reels. The candidate will be confident in front of the camera and behind. They will also have an analytical sensibility: using insight metrics to constantly hone the social media strategy. A love of books across a variety of genres is a prerequisite.


Responsibilities

  • A key contributor to Bloomsbury’s social media channels (with a focus on Instagram and TikTok) devising, creating and publishing engaging content
  • Create and deliver engaging email newsletters for Bloomsbury and Head of Zeus, working alongside marketers to ensuring newsletter content ties in with wider social and digital output
  • Creator outreach: support the running of Bloomsbury Creator Circle, our network of creators for the adult, YA and children’s lists (including Head of Zeus). This includes events throughout the year, with some events being in the evening or at weekends (time in lieu is offered)
  • Driving the social media strategy for Head of Zeus social media channels, with a core focus on Instagram and TikTok
  • Create and implement multi-title, seasonal campaigns for Head of Zeus books on social – paid and organic
  • Running monthly reports to highlight the top-performing organic activity and analyse key performance drivers to drive continued growth and running social media ads (Meta, TikTok, Pinterest) for Bloomsbury and Head of Zeus
  • Updating the Bloomsbury.com website landing page for Head of Zeus titles on a monthly basis
  • Administrative duties for the digital marketing department, including: coordinating monthly photoshoots with a freelance photographer, processing invoices, helping set up events, etc.


Knowledge, skills & experience

  • Professional experience of using all major social media platforms, especially Instagram and TikTok
  • Up-to-date knowledge of best practices of social media advertising and industry developments
  • Demonstrable photography and video creation skills (including the ability to edit videos)
  • Confidence in front of the camera, to appear in video content when required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including copywriting)
  • Excellent time-management, prioritisation and organisational skills, with a close eye for detail and keen awareness of deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to changing daily tasks
  • Familiarity with social media software such as Sprout Social (or any scheduling and reporting equivalent, e.g., HootSuite) and Meta Business Manager
  • Strong IT skills, particularly video editing software (e.g., InShot, CapCut, Adobe Premiere or alternatives). Experience with Excel and PowerPoint is helpful but not essential


Additional information

The role is a permanent, full-time position. The role is based at Bloomsbury’s London office (50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP) and Head of Zeus’s office (5-8 Hardwick St, London EC1R 4RG) on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are: Monday and Tuesday

This position is eligible for Bloomsbury’s Rental Deposit Loan Scheme. To assist candidates who want to start and to establish a career in publishing, Bloomsbury offers an interest-free rental deposit to support securing somewhere to live. The rental deposit loan can be up to £3,000 and will be paid back over 2 years.
