We are Splendid, a multiple award-winning communications agency based in Shoreditch and we are looking for a new Finance Assistant to join the team.

Your job will be to support the Financial Controller in providing the whole business with efficient and effective financial management and controls, working with staff at all levels.

Key responsibilities

  • Purchase ledger including processing invoices and expenses, doing fortnightly payment runs
  • Client billing and debt chasing
  • Bank reconciliations and updating the weekly cashflow forecast
  • Assisting with month-end tasks such as fixed assets and depreciation, accruals and prepayments
  • Monitoring overhead expenditure using house job budgets
  • Training non-finance staff to use Paprika, our financial and job-management software, and dealing with general queries
  • Managing the timesheet process including, monitoring and chasing missing time
  • As you develop you will be expected to work proactively to improve systems and processes, and providing ad-hoc financial support as required throughout the business


Future development

  • Potential to take on more responsibilities within the finance function such as the sales ledger and management accounting tasks.
  • Splendid would provide study support towards an accounting qualification such as AAT or ACCA.
     

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • A basic but solid accountancy background, either from a relevant degree or at least 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office software, including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs A*-C including Maths and English or equivalent qualifications.
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally, on phone and email
  • Bright, self-motivated, fast-learner
  • Well-organised and good at prioritising, able to work to deadlines
  • Thorough approach, including a good attention to detail
  • Good team player
  • Friendly, outgoing personality
