Training bursary: £23,806 (equivalent to net amount earning £13.55 per hour)

Duration: 12 months

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (inclusive of 1 hour lunch break per day)

Location: Working from the office 4 days per week

Develop key finance skills in this exciting 12-month internship at an iconic dance institution!

The Place, London’s creative powerhouse for dance development, has been leading the way in dance training, creation and performance for over 50 years. In a changing landscape, their mission for the future remains steadfast: they are powering imagination through dance, championing new ideas, embracing risks and creating optimal conditions for dance artists and enthusiasts to realise their full potential.

The trainee role will work across all areas of the finance team to develop an understanding of the finance function. The trainee will be supported to develop the ability to process and understand financial transactions, maintain financial records, analyse and present data and develop finance reconciliation skills.

This trainee position supports the Finance Supervisor in managing income and expenditure workflows for The Place, ensuring timely processing, payments, and reconciliations according to agreed processes and service levels. The trainee also assists the Chief Financial Officer, Finance Business Partner and other business areas with data reporting and analysis as needed.

Training will be provided to ensure that the trainee is able to complete the work independently within a timely manner and develop finance skills in order to progress towards a finance qualification.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Posting and uploading invoices into the finance system and statement reconciliations.
  • Preparation of payments to suppliers.
  • Posting of credit card statements and expense claims.
  • Responding to finance queries.
  • Raising sales invoices, production of monthly debtors statements, credit control.
  • Posting and allocation of student income.
  • Reconciliation of departmental income.
  • Posting journals to the system to correct errors and post adjustments.
  • Month-end reconciliations and maintaining accurate records.
  • Account management.

 

What we're looking for

  • 5 GCSEs at A*-C or an equivalent qualification, must include Maths.
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Strong numerical and written communication skills.
  • A self-motivated problem-solver.
  • Strong organisational skills and flexibility with planning and prioritising tasks.
