Bring your accounting skills to a leading independent publisher and support key financial operations, forecasting, and audits as part of a dynamic team.

This role sits within the financial operations team, located at Bloomsbury’s Head Office in Bedford Square, London. The role will report into the finance manager. This is an opportunity to support the ongoing finance transformation and implementation of a robust controls framework.


Responsibilities

  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations to support month-end processes
  • Posting month-end entries, with a primary focus on Overhead Costs, while also supporting Fixed Assets and other ad hoc tasks
  • Preparing and posting intercompany entries at Group level for month-end
  • Producing monthly overhead reports
  • Assisting with quarterly forecasting for designated areas
  • Providing month-end reporting, commentary, and variance analysis against forecast
  • Contributing to the enhancement of the Controls Framework – identifying controls within the Opex team, assisting the Finance Manager, and documenting processes as required
  • Supporting external audit processes


Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Exam qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT)
  • Experience of working as a management accountant in a large or compliance finance function
  • Ability to deal with complex accounting and make improvements to month end processes
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written, and ability to present financial information in a manner that can be understood by all recipients
  • Fast and accurate with attention to detail
  • Proactive and motivated, able to show initiative and work independently
  • Strong technical, analytical and judgement skills
  • Ability to be flexible and work across a divisional matrix structure
  • Problem solver with a track record of undertaking and delivering projects
  • MS Excel (strong)
  • Financial systems – (Access Dimensions preferred)
  • Focal Point (preferred)
  • Biblio (preferred)


Additional information

The role is a full-time permanent position. The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based. Allocated office days for this role are: Monday and Tuesday.
