We publish books of excellence and lasting value written by authors with passion and expertise. We're home to popular fiction and non-fiction writers alongside some of the most progressive new voices in publishing. Established in 1768 and with a rich and illustrious history, we are the oldest imprint in the business and oldest surviving trade list in British publishing.

John Murray Press is a division of Hachette, one of the largest publishing groups in the UK, with 11 publishing divisions and over 60 imprints. Everyone here is proud to be in the business of opening doors and minds.

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the senior marketing manager for Literary & Non-Fiction publishing, the successful candidate will:

  • Plan, deliver and measure campaigns for John Murray and Quercus, working across a variety of fiction and non-fiction titles, with a focus on book club fiction such as Bora Chung and Liv Little.
  • Have ownership of exciting community-building projects throughout the year.
  • Be responsible for creating impactful industry-leading campaigns across an exciting list of books, ensuring a strong visual identity across each title and generating genuine word-of-mouth buzz through building close relationships with influencers, bookshops and brand partners.
  • Beyond your campaigns, you’ll play a major role in all of our publishing through your ownership of our literary influencer outreach and TikTok strategy for the John Murray channels, as well as leading our book club outreach, working collaboratively with reading groups and bookshops nationwide.

Who we are looking for

  • You’ll be an expert in social media, in particular TikTok and Instagram, with experience creating impactful and high-quality content.
  • Your friends might describe you as ‘very online’, with a keen awareness of current and emerging social media trends and influencers.
  • You’ll be highly organised, able to juggle multiple competing deadlines, with an eye for detail and aesthetics.
  • You’d describe yourself as a strong communicator, both over email and in person, and are excellent at collaborating with colleagues and authors to build strong working relationships.
  • We welcome applications from people in the publishing industry, but this is not an essential requirement.
  • More important is a passion for the book you’ll be working on and a knack for creating engaging content and influencer relationships.
