This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Marketing & Publicity team.
Thames & Hudson is the leading publisher of illustrated books on visual arts, history, fashion and popular culture, and includes titles published in association with brands, institutions, and museums worldwide.
Supporting the team with administrative tasks, with scope to work on publicity and marketing campaigns in collaboration with your team and manager. You will liaise with internal and external contacts and stakeholders (for example authors, agents, retailers, partners, freelancers). Sitting within our marketing team, you will report to the Marketing & Communities Director whilst also working closely with the Head of Publicity and Communications.
Responsibilities
- Providing administrative support for the marketing and publicity teams, such as scheduling meeting rooms, processing invoices and expense forms, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, booking travel and accommodation for authors, and organising marketing mailings where required
- Producing Publicity & Marketing Updates, liaising with internal colleagues and freelancers to ensure others are kept informed of campaign progress and coverage achieved
- Supporting the marketing team with events
- Assisting the team and your line manager, working on marketing campaigns for titles and brand activities
- Liaising between our Volume group imprints and the central Comms team
- Maintaining excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Assisting the marketing managers with any other projects
- Assisting the Head of Publicity & Communications with publicity outreach
- Implementing your own integrated PR campaigns across print, digital, broadcast and radio with support from your manager
- Planning and executing author launches and events within budget
- Maintaining the Publicity Events Calendar and ensuring the sales team is notified in good time of any stock requirements
- Supporting senior publicists on projects
- Coordinating with freelance publicists and marketers to obtain press pdfs and images, production schedules, ordering books, collating press clippings, and general administration
- Overseeing the physical mailing and emailing of the seasonal sales catalogue to press contacts and overseeing the VIP catalogue list and mailing
Knowledge, skills, and experience
This is an entry-level role, in a supportive team, which would be suited to someone with strong organisational and people skills. Previous publishing work experience or general office experience would be of benefit. However, much can be learned on the job.
The below are essential requirements:
- Strong interest in the visual arts and Marketing/PR and a demonstrable passion for books/publishing
- Administrative experience gained in a busy office environment
- Accurate, with high attention to detail
- Highly organised and efficient, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise appropriately
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of campaign plans for marketing and publicity promotion
- Proactive, adaptable and self-motivated
