What you'll be doing
You will be responsible for providing general assistance in the public relations (PR) team. You will offer administrative support for the smooth running of the department as well as providing some confidential administrative support to the senior team members and undertake some campaign work for specific titles.
You’ll be part of every part of the promotional process, from accompanying authors and illustrators to events, helping to host at launches submitting our books to trade publications, creating press releases, and much more. You’ll also be communicating with our high-profile authors and illustrators, and be the friendly, professional face of HCG both on email and in-person. You’ll create your own publishing networks, liaising with journalists, influencers, festivals and bookshops, as well as internal colleagues. Using your high-quality writing and presenting skills, we’ll ask you to collate team pitches to promote our titles and representing HCG in meetings with festivals and other partners.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone exceptionally organised, with meticulous attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities, use MS office proficiently, as well as learning publishing platforms such as Biblio.
A passion for books and the media is essential, and the ideal candidate will bring creativity, enthusiasm, and proactive energy to the role. You will be a strong team player, enjoy socialising at events, be able to work collaboratively as part of a team, liaising with multiple colleagues, high-profile authors, illustrators, agents, licensors, journalists and booksellers, so you will need to be confident, with excellent communication skills, both in person and via email. You’ll be comfortable in a host role for our authors and illustrators and contacts at launches and events. Prior experience in the publishing industry is not necessary.
