Hours: 9.30am – 5.30pm (weekdays) with 3 days per week in office in Leith. Occasional out of hours work likely

Salary range: £25,000 - £27,000 per annum

Holiday: 32 days (including public holidays)

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate communicator to develop their career in communications, focused on arts and events and with a flair for both PR and digital. We are looking for someone to support the delivery of communication strategies for a range of world-class festivals including major outdoor festivals, musicians and ensembles, album campaigns, events and other cultural companies and venues as part of the Premier Scotland team. It is a role which requires press, PR and a level of digital knowledge and experience, and is for an initial period of 6 months with potential extension.

There will be opportunities to be directly involved in projects, attend performances and events and get on-the-job training.  

 

Primary tasks and activities

  • Devising, planning, running and reporting on small and mid-scale press; campaigns as allocated by the Associate Directors/Director and with their input
  • Working as part of a team on large campaigns
  • Building and maintaining relationships with media, clients and associates
  • Dealing with requests for images, footage, press information, interviews and press tickets
  • Conceiving and delivering media calls
  • Digital work on some campaigns working with Senior Digital Manager including creative planning, delivery and analysis
  • Live event support and attendance at events as required. 

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in a PR or communications role
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and in-person
  • A good understanding of the media and journalism landscape
  • A range of press contacts in news, lifestyle, arts and culture media
  • Has delivered small- to mid-level PR campaigns
  • Experience in planning, creating and publishing engaging and eye-catching social media content
  • A good knowledge of social media trends
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Confidence to brainstorm creative content ideas across PR and social media in response to client briefs
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • An interest in the arts.

Desirable

  • Experience with video content capture and editing for Instagram reels, TikTok or YouTube Shorts
  • Familiarity with website CMS such as Wordpress or Squarespace
  • Experience using Facebook Meta Business Suite 
  • Photo and video editing skills on Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or similar 
  • Experience running digital advertising campaigns across social media platforms.
