Salary: The starting salary for this role is £27,000.
Contract: This is a full-time position. This is a hybrid role, working a minimum of three days per week in our office near to London Bridge.
This role is ideal for someone eager to launch their publicity career in a fast-growing company with many high profile and award-winning authors, illustrators and brands.
Nosy Crow is a multi-award winning, independent children’s publishing company with operations in both the UK and the USA. We make child-focused, parent-friendly children’s books for ages 0-12. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, organised and creative individual to join our team as a Publicity Assistant on a full-time basis.
The role of the Publicity Assistant is to assist the Publicity team in promoting Nosy Crow’s authors and illustrators, our high-profile list of titles and award-winning brands. The Publicity Assistant reports to our Publicity Manager, and will be joining a dedicated, bright and vibrant Sales and Marketing Department.
We are a close team and we value the experience and creative input that we can each provide to help shape our products to be the best they can be.
Key responsibilities
- To work closely with the Senior Publicity Manager, Publicity Manager, Senior Executive and Executive to help implement and support creative and targeted PR campaigns that deliver coverage and sales for Nosy Crow.
- Work with the Publicity team to organise and coordinate a Nosy Crow presence at festivals and librarian conferences as well as launches, book tours, school visits and bookshop signings. This entails occasional evening/weekend work.
- To create and provide regular publicity communications, including newsletters and internal updates
- To maintain a range of PR systems, from our contacts database to our review tracking to our awards submissions, and to compile and facilitate our proof mailings
- Providing general administration support where required, including drafting PR materials like press releases and pitch presentations and managing award submissions.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- A keen interest in children’s books and lots of enthusiasm!
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen eye for detail and creative flair.
- Eagerness to deliver the best possible author care and confidence in building and maintaining relationships with authors, illustrators and key contacts
- Strong organisation and time management skills, and the ability to constantly prioritise in a busy and sometimes pressurised environment.
- Basic design skills using InDesign and Photoshop desirable but not essential.
- Previous experience working in the children’s book world, organising events or in publicity is beneficial but not essential.
