Take the next step in your publicity career, leading campaigns for award-winning children’s books, authors and brands.

Nosy Crow is a multi-award-winning, independent children’s publishing company. We began publishing child-focused, parent-friendly children’s books in January 2011 with the aim of creating books that encourage children to read for pleasure. We’re one of the country’s fastest growing publishing companies: we’re currently the 12th biggest publisher of children’s books in the UK.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, organised and creative individual to join our team as a Publicity Executive on a full-time basis. This role is ideal for a Publicity Assistant or someone with experience in a publicity department eager to progress their career in a fast-growing company with many high profile and award-winning authors, illustrators and brands.

Purpose of the Job

The Publicity Executive will work independently on their own campaigns alongside assisting the PR team in promoting Nosy Crow’s incredible list of authors and illustrators, titles and award-winning brands, ensuring excellent author care.

The Publicity Executive works closely with the Publicity Assistant, Senior Publicity Manager and other Publicity Executive within a wider, dedicated, bright and vibrant Sales and Marketing Department.

We are a close team and we value the experience and creative input that we can each provide to help shape our books and campaigns to be the best they can be.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To independently devise and deliver your own imaginative, tailored, wide-reaching and well-executed publicity campaigns.
  • To act as a dedicated point of contact for your assigned authors and illustrators, delivering stand-out author care.
  • Work with the Publicity team to organise and coordinate a Nosy Crow presence at festivals as well as launches, book tours, school visits and bookshop signings, and leading on Nosy Crow’s attendance at key conferences. This entails occasional evening/weekend work.
  • Developing and maintaining lasting relationships with contacts in all aspects of the media, and within the librarian, bookseller and influencer community.
  • Help maintain and produce regular publicity communications to shout about our books

Key skills, characteristics and capabilities:

  • Previous experience working in publicity, plus a range of press contacts and/or experience organising festivals, events, conferences and book tours
  • A keen interest in children’s books and lots of enthusiasm! Previous experience working in children’s books is beneficial but not essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen eye for detail and creative flair.
  • Confidence in building and maintaining relationships with authors, illustrators and key contacts as well as an eagerness to collaborate with the wider Nosy Crow team.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills, and the ability to constantly prioritise in a busy and sometimes pressurised environment.
  • Basic design skills using InDesign and Photoshop desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate will have the right to live and work in the UK.
