Do you want to join a dynamic and ambitious team, where your ideas and contributions will help deliver first-class experiences for audiences and sponsors alike?

The Stage Media Company is dedicated to providing up-to-date news, events and services for the UK’s performing arts and book publishing industries. Its two titles, The Stage and The Bookseller, are established leaders within their respective fields, offering industry news, authoritative reviews and insightful features.

We are seeking a talented and driven Senior Marketing Executive to lead audience acquisition and revenue growth for our expanding portfolio of conferences and awards, including flagship events from The Bookseller and The Stage. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced creative and data-savvy events marketer to make a real impact and shape the marketing strategy behind some of the most respected brands in the book publishing and performing arts industries. You will be working on events including The British Book Awards, The Stage Debut Awards, FutureBook, Future of Theatre, The Stage Awards and The Speakies.

What you will do

  • Campaign Management: Plan and execute high-impact, multi-channel marketing campaigns to drive attendance for our conferences and awards.
  • Delegate Acquisition: Lead audience acquisition using targeted email marketing, social media, SEO, paid campaigns, and content marketing.
  • Database Management: Maintain and optimise segmented databases to ensure accurate targeting and strong campaign performance.
  • Website & UX: Own the ongoing optimisation of event websites, ensuring a seamless user journey and strong conversion rates.
  • Audience Growth: Develop strategies to build community, increase retention and drive growth among returning and new attendees year-on-year.
  • Performance Analysis: Track and report on key marketing KPIs, using data to test, learn, and continually improve campaign results.
  • Partnerships: Build and manage promotional partnerships with associations, speakers, sponsors, and media to amplify reach and engagement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with editorial, events, and commercial teams to ensure campaigns are aligned with business goals and brand messaging.
  • Pricing Strategy: Support pricing strategy and positioning discussions with insights from audience behaviour and competitor benchmarks.

What we are looking for

  • Substantial end-to-end events marketing experience, with demonstrated success in delegate and audience acquisition.
  • Proven ability to manage marketing across multiple events simultaneously, meeting or exceeding performance targets.
  • Proficient in CRM and marketing automation platforms – ideally Salesforce and Adestra.
  • Comfortable with data analysis and reporting; strong Excel skills essential.
  • Knowledgeable in SEO, paid and organic social media, and email best practices.

This may be a good fit for you if you:

  • Strong eye for visual design and ability to create on-brand marketing assets using design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite).
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Can positively contribute to a team-oriented, collaborative environment
