
Senior producer, creative studio

Join the National Theatre and take the lead on producing imaginative moving image work that brings its stories to life across every platform.
Working under the direction of the head of creative studio - video, to create materials for a wide range of National Theatre projects but primarily focused on working on production key art, moving image and campaign content. The senior producer will lead on moving image concept and execution, originating new ideas and assets, the span of which is extremely broad, including large campaigns, small bespoke videos for the National Theatre and it’s social channels. This role helps set the benchmark for creative thinking and execution, inspiring the other members of the team and demonstrating best practice design skills.
The role means having overall responsibility for the execution of video projects – originating ideas, pitching right through to final delivery. The role is for anyone who has a strong background in content production, enjoys and excels at being hands-on, has a collaborative mind-set and is confident to lead and direct people and projects. The position would suit a seasoned producer ready to step-up to a senior level, or a current senior producer looking for a chance to expand their creative opportunities.
Responsibilities
- To produce brilliant creative ideas that have an integrated approach and work across all outputs and formats
- To make strategic decisions, in collaboration with the co-head of creative studio - video, about the prioritisation and allocation of edit resources to ensure that all content produced is delivering on the National Theatre’s ambitious aims and objectives
- Lead video projects from conception to execution, overseeing the development of campaign assets like moving images, documentaries, digital out of home, social paid and organic videos and brand videos for the National Theatre
- To deliver challenging, entertaining and inspiring video content and ensure the creative studio team are able to successfully produce a range of content for different audiences
- To produce creative outlines for content, within the scope of budget and timelines, and work with the theatre’s creative teams to deliver these concepts
- To collaborate with designers in the creative studio to ensure show campaign identities across still and moving image are created in a cohesive and efficient manner, and that brand guidelines are adhered to across all video content
- To ensure all teams relevant to projects are fully briefed and able to support the set-up, management and delivery of all videos.
- Manage and appraise the work produced by the producer, assisting them in their professional growth and development
- To develop and articulate the creative direction in alignment with the organisational ambitions and support the team to create content which realises this direction
- To produce creative outlines for content, within the scope of budget and timelines, and work with the theatre’s creative teams to deliver these concepts
- To support the creation of content that delivers to brief, and to lead and support teams to develop, steer and produce world-class content
- To establish and maintain close and productive working relationships with departments across the organisation, including marketing, producing, casting, press, production, learning, digital and development
- To concept, storyboard, script and visualise creative ideas ready to present clearly and persuasively to internal stakeholders
- To contribute to the creative culture of the studio and inspire other members of the creative studio through setting best practice examples
- To keep abreast of the latest technology and trends, and drive change when necessary
- To undertake training as deemed necessary by the head of creative studio - video
Knowledge, skills & experience
- Extensive experience as a content producer or senior producer level with demonstrable experience either in-house or agency
- The proven ability to come up with successful creative ideas, which help to deliver key campaign objectives in an engaging way
- An understanding of how to create and deliver work for social channels as well as an excellent understanding of social optimisation
- Proven leadership abilities, with the capacity to manage and mentor junior members of the studio
- Demonstrable ability to think creatively and strategically about content and produce and/or oversee clear storyboard, script and concept documents
