Closing date: 18th August 2024Salary: £21,881.6 per annum, pro rata (based on FTE £27,352 per annum)Department: Creative Engagement&nbsp;We are looking for an&nbsp;Archive Data Cleanser to join our&nbsp;Heritage and Archive team in the Creative Engagement department on a part-time, 6 month fixed term basis.The Southbank Centre Archive comprises more than 3000 boxes / 1.5 kilometres of documents, photos, objects, recordings and born-digital material which together tell the story of the Southbank Centre since its 1951 Festival of Britain inception. The collection continues to grow, increasingly in digital form.&nbsp;&nbsp;From 2024 we have begun implementing a new, long-term vision for the archive alongside our Creative Engagement programme strands. We are currently focused on establishing new ways to celebrate our heritage and creating new routes into the collection for the public ahead of the 75th anniversary of the centre in 2026.&nbsp;The Archive Data Cleanser will provide a critical role in supporting the creation and launch of a new Archive Catalogue, <a href="https://www.accesstomemory.org/" target="_blank">Access to Memory</a> (AtoM). Working closely with a cataloguing archivist and Southbank Centre’s IT team, the role offers a chance to aid organising, describing and making accessible a large, mixed collection. It will also provide valuable experience for those seeking to pursue a career in the profession within a fast-paced and creative archive.Please review the attached job description for the full list of role responsibilities and person specification.&nbsp;&nbsp;Responsibilities<ul><li>Review and amend legacy archive information, created in collaboration with the public through our participatory volunteering scheme, to prepare it for import into our archive management system, Access to Memory (AtoM).</li><li>Identify and correct data quality issues, inconsistencies and errors across wide-ranging datasets.</li><li>Format, research and edit historical information to ensure accuracy and accessibility, with period checking of the physical material described within the legacy information.</li><li>Document data cleansing processes and maintain detailed records of changes made.</li><li>Work closely with the Cataloging Archivist and IT Team to develop and improve import processes for legacy information.</li><li>Report on progress and any issues encountered during the data cleansing progress.</li><li>Carry out any other tasks necessary as directed by the Archivist or Cataloging Archivist.</li></ul>&nbsp;Knowledge, skills and experience<ul><li>Experience or an interest in pursuing Library Science, Information Management, Data Management, Archives, History or a related field as a career</li><li>Is well organised, with demonstrable administration skills and precise attention to detail</li><li>Can manage their own time and can demonstrate they are able to work to and meet deadlines, with a can-do attitude</li><li>Has demonstrable IT skills, particularly with Google Suite and archive cataloging software, such as CALM, AtoM or ArchivesSpace</li><li>Demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of people, both internally and externally at all levels</li><li>Ability to understand and apply complex schemas such as ISAD(G)</li><li>Understanding of archival principles and practices</li><li>Familiarity with metadata standards, particularly ISAD(G)</li><li>Knowledge of methodologies for data cleansing</li><li>An interest in the modern history of art, exhibition making and the Southbank Centre</li></ul>&nbsp;We welcome and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented in the creative industries.Please make sure that you state in your application that you found this role via Creative Access.
