Best known for our work in the visual and performing arts, we provide publishing services in many subject areas, backed by almost 40 years of steady growth, and a reputation for excellence in design and production.We are currently looking for a marketing &amp; events coordinator to assist in planning our attendance at events, mainly academic conferences, but also book launches and author talks. You'll work closely with marketing, sales, editorial, and external partners to ensure every event runs smoothly and reflects Intellect’s reputation. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role that blends administration, creativity, and logistics. It offers a great entry point into publisher operations, connecting marketing, editorial, sales, and author relations. Responsibilities<ul><li>Conference management: support the team leader (global head of marketing &amp; sales) in planning and organising event attendance –&nbsp;online and in-person</li><li>Attending conferences (approximately 6 a year, depending on business needs)</li><li>Oversee administrative tasks in conjunction with the global head of marketing &amp; sales: booking venues, liaising with suppliers, tracking budgets, and preparing post-event reports</li><li>Supporting the business and the team’s marketing and sales objectives</li><li>Marketing a portfolio of products, to be determined by the team leader</li><li>Coordinate with the team leader, the design team, or external vendors, creating promotional materials and digital assets (e.g., invitations, banners, signage)</li><li>Multitask effectively, communicate with stakeholders (authors, academic staff, vendors), and ensure deadlines are met with meticulous attention to detail.</li></ul> Knowledge, skills and experience<ul><li>Highly organised with excellent communication skills –&nbsp;responsive to internal and external stakeholders</li><li>A great communicator who enjoys customer facing situations and interactions</li><li>The successful applicant would ideally have experience working with key stakeholders: academics, librarians and educational institutions</li><li>Exceptional organisational and administrative abilities, ensuring smooth operations and timely delivery of tasks</li><li>Strong negotiation skills</li><li>People person</li><li>Willing to travel 6 times a year</li><li>Willing to work outside of your usual hours and be flexible during events and periods of travel</li><li>Logistics / shipping</li><li>Proven experience in event coordination or event planning, even in adjacent roles or industries</li><li>General marketing and sales skills</li><li>A strong understanding of branding and developing brand equity</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook); familiarity with tools such as Canva or basic design software is beneficial</li><li>Ability to keep calm under pressure, tackle multiple tasks, and maintain a professional, customer‑service mindset.</li></ul> BenefitsOur staff enjoy a very supportive working culture and job fulfilment, and we are committed to a healthy work/life balance.Benefits include:<ul><li>Flexible working</li><li>Generous annual leave, 25 days (inc Christmas and your birthday) plus bank holidays</li><li>Contributory pension</li><li>Childcare voucher scheme where applicable</li><li>Cycle to work scheme</li><li>Interest-free company loan</li></ul> We value a diverse and inclusive workforce and welcome applications from people from all backgrounds, genders, abilities and ethnicities.
