Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>A wide range of administrative tasks including general office administration</li>
<li>Organising meetings</li>
<li>Keeping minutes</li>
<li>Overseeing our publishing critical path</li>
<li>Organising copy-edits and proofreading</li>
<li>Updating Biblio</li>
<li>Processing invoices</li>
<li>Organising book proof mailouts</li>
<li>Supporting the busy Orion Fiction team with a variety of ad hoc tasks</li>
</ul>
 
Who we are looking for
<ul>
<li>You will be supremely well organised with a meticulous eye for detail, good writing skills and impeccable grammar and spelling</li>
<li>You will have the ability to multi-task, prioritise and stay calm under pressure</li>
<li>You will also be a good communicator, a team player, a passionate reader of commercial fiction and have a keen awareness of trends</li>
<li>You will be a confident user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook</li>

Jessica Kingsley Publishers are looking to hire a talented and ambitious Assistant Editor or Commissioning Editor (depending on experience) for our market-leading Gender Diversity and Sexuality publishing.
You will be responsible for seeking out new talent, building relationships with authors and commissioning and developing commercially focussed books and resources. The role will involve working across a range of formats, including self-help, memoir, practical guides, children’s books, books for teens, graphic non-fiction as well as online resources.
 
Responsibilities

<li>Proactively approach potential authors with original publishing ideas</li>
<li>Demonstrate your strong understanding of LGBTQIA+ issues and topics</li>
<li>Establish and maintain relationships with authors</li>
<li>Actively solicit, acquire, evaluate, and develop proposals and book concepts</li>
<li>Negotiate contracts with authors and agents</li>
<li>Champion books through the publishing process</li>
<li>Maintain an effective relationship with editorial, marketing, sales production, and other departments</li>
<li>Develop and maintain market awareness in order to identify publishing opportunities</li>
<li>Oversee the preparation of marketing, jacket, and catalogue copy; and review marketing and publicity materials</li>
