This programme highlights the best of the world of entertainment and reflects Scotland’s wide cultural lifestyle options. Creating entertaining and compelling television and digital stories that have been incredibly well received by our audiences.
To help build on our successful series to date, we’re looking for a Shooting Assistant Producer to join our team on a 6-month Fixed Term Contract to help drive the editorial agenda. In this role you will film items, work with presenters, produce and edit portions of programmes and contribute creative ideas. It’s a key role on a critically important team, and the successful candidate will have experience of self-shooting and editing as well as a passion for creating compelling, entertaining, and engaging programmes.
 
Responsibilities 
<ul>
<li>To produce distinctive content for What’s on Scotland</li>
<li>Find compelling stories and guests for the show which reflect Scotland’s diverse communities</li>
<li>Contribute to a digital strategy to enhance content on the stv player and other platforms</li>
<li>Film and edit inserts for programmes</li>
<li>Work closely with presenters including scripting and developing interview technique and delivery</li>
<li>Develop and manage staff, contributors and talent and be able to give constructive feedback</li>
<li>Deputising where appropriate for senior team members</li>
<li>Where relevant, liaise with legal teams and contract negotiators, ensuring copyright and contracts adhere to broadcast regulations</li>
<li>Contribute to the development and implementation of non news programme strategy and policy</li>
<li>Work within health and safety regulations and take responsibility for crew and other staff</li>
<li>Support the producer to run a motivated team </li>
<li>Support the producer to deliver content to budget</li>
</ul>
 
Knowledge, skills, experience
<ul>
<li>Experience of self-shooting and editing</li>
<li>Substantial experience of producing content </li>
<li>A skilled camera operator who will work with a small team to encouraging innovation</li>
<li>Experience of operating edits and crafting contributor-led programmes </li>
<li>Proven experience of taking ideas and making compelling programmes </li>
<li>Excellent editorial judgement and knowledge of the target audience and their needs and expectations</li>
<li>Experience of influencing, negotiating and communicating effectively with staff and others involved in making content</li>
<li>Ability to establish good relationships with a wide range of people, talent, partners and agencies</li>
<li>Highly developed planning and organising skills</li>
<li>Sound editorial judgement and a thorough knowledge of editorial and legal guidelines</li>
<li>Able to communicate and contribute to the department strategy as required</li>
</ul>
This role will primarily work Monday to Friday however some occasional evening and weekend work may be required subject to filming requirements.

Shooting assistant producer, What's On Scotland (6 month fixed term contract)

As we all start to get out and about again, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a researcher to join our team for the latest series of the entertainment show, What’s On Scotland, which airs this summer. Whether it’s what’s on at the theatre, what not to miss at the cinema or where to see the best live music, What’s On Scotland is the place to be.
This programme highlights the best of the world of entertainment and reflects Scotland’s wide cultural lifestyle options. Creating entertaining and compelling television and digital stories that have been incredibly well received by our audiences. 
Based at our Pacific Quay office in Glasgow as part of a wider team the Researcher will support the Producer by coming up with creative ideas, sourcing locations and creating schedules for the upcoming series. This role is a 6-month Fixed Term Contract from June to November.
The successful candidate will also get the opportunity to go on location and support the production team on filming days as well as the opportunity to enhance their production skills.

<li>Coming up with new and innovative approaches to storytelling</li>
<li>Supporting the social media presence of the production</li>
</ul>
 
Knowledge, skills, experience
<ul>
<li>A passion and enthusiasm for television and the media. </li>
<li>Strong communication skills </li>
<li>A confident telephone manner</li>
<li>A resilient, positive, can-do attitude.</li>
<li>Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and planning.</li>
<li>Able to use initiative with confidence and use judgement to escalate where necessary</li>
<li>Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with people from all backgrounds and ages with confidence, using tact and diplomacy</li>
<li>Proficient in MS office packages</li>
<li>Editing experience (Avid) advantageous but not essential</li>
</ul>
