Finance assistant & credit controller
Salary: circa £25,000 per annum FTE (pro-rata for part-time)
Part-time: 3 days-per-week
Location: Remote from mid-August 2022. Woking from 5 September 2022.

At Italia Conti we are going through an exciting period of transformational change. We’re relocating from our existing sites in Barbican, Clapham and Guildford to one brand new purpose-built campus in Woking in September 2022.
It’s a huge step-change for us and we are in need of a Finance Assistant to take on a role specifically on our credit control side.
Your broad experience in a Finance department, preferably within an education setting, attention to detail, proactive approach and exemplary interpersonal skills will mark you out as a strong candidate for the role. In addition, you’ll love what we do and be an all-round communicator – articulate, open, collaborative and a pleasure to work with.
Responsibilities
- Raising sales invoices for student fees and any other income
- Recording cash, cheque and debit/credit card receipts on spreadsheets
- Banking of cash and cheque receipts
- Coding and recording financial transactions and entering receipts on the accounting system
- Preparing information as required for VAT returns
- Ensuring customers pay invoices on time through effective credit control including issuing letters, emails and making telephone calls to the fee payers
- Referring delinquent accounts to the Italia Conti’s appointed debt recovery firm and monitoring all debts referred to them
- Dealing with any student/parent enquiries on fees and funding
- Maintaining the accuracy of the fee ledgers
- Filing historical records and retrieving necessary documents as needed for others
- Providing administrative and clerical support as needed
- Additional bookkeeping duties as designated by management
Knowledge, skills, experience
- A good tertiary education, i.e. a-levels or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in a finance role
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships both as part of a busy Finance team and with Italia Conti’s customers (parents and students)
- Excellent IT skills and the ability to and aptitude to be self sufficient, and to work with minimal IT support
- Knowledge of SAGE and other financial software packages
- Personal integrity and high standards for self and others
- Proven, relevant experience in a similar role
- Experience of recording financial transactions and of handling accounts receivable
