Production assistant
Salary: £24,000
Do you have a can-do attitude, and relish the thought of being part of a busy team?
If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Penguin Random House Children’s Production department on a 12-month FTC, covering a period of secondment.
We’re looking for a production assistant to help produce backlist, co-edition and non-trade orders on the Ladybird, Licensing, Spot and Warne lists, covering series such as Ten Minutes to Bed and Read it Yourself and well-known characters such as Peppa Pig and Peter Rabbit.
Responsibilities
- You will work closely with our internal teams, but also with reprographic and print suppliers in the UK, Europe and Asia – controlling pricing, scheduling and ordering through to final delivery and invoicing
- You will also provide general support to the rest of the team and assist with the department’s administration
Knowledge, skills, experience
- Organised
- Detail-oriented
- Able to self-motivate and numerate
- Able to prioritise a busy inbox, build schedules, and figure out percentages
- You will be able to communicate clearly and concisely, have the drive to keep colleagues and suppliers on track, and be able to treat them with patience and kindness as you do so
- You will also be ready to learn to negotiate both pricing and schedules
Although this is an entry level position and training will be given, a familiarity with and enthusiasm for children’s books will stand you in good stead.
