<a href="https://creativeaccess.org.uk/" target="_blank">Creative Access</a> is excited to be partnering with <a href="https://www.penguin.co.uk/company/about-us.html" target="_blank">Penguin Random House</a> again to launch a virtual mentoring programme, designed to reach talent from communities currently underrepresented in the creative industries. The aim is to break down barriers and myths and showcase the rich mix of roles and opportunities on offer within publishing.
Successful applicants will be mentored by individuals who have at least two years of experience in the industry, from across the different teams at Penguin Random House, including editorial, design, production, technology, sales, marketing, publicity, distribution and HR. The senior leadership team will also be mentoring. There are 90 places available on this year’s programme which is open for applications from today until July 11th.

This programme is designed to be an equal partnership between mentors and mentees and mutually beneficial to both. Mentees will have access to publishing expertise and the opportunity to discuss their personal and professional development goals. And mentors will have the opportunity to learn from the fresh perspectives of their mentees and challenge their existing ways of thinking. To help set the new relationships up for success, Creative Access will offer training at an initial meet and greet session to both mentors and mentees.
 
<h3>How does the programme work?</h3>
Through the programme, Creative Access will find and match 90 people with mentors from across these <a href="https://www.penguin.co.uk/company/work-with-us/careers/work-in-publishing.html" target="_blank">different teams at Penguin Random House</a>. Where possible, mentees will be matched with a mentor working in the area in which they would like to work or progress their career in.
It will focus on individuals over the age of 18 from under-represented communities looking to pursue or progress with their careers in publishing. This could apply to students at college or university or those who have some professional experience (in publishing or wider industries). Also welcomed are applications from those not currently in education, employment or training.
The mentoring partnerships will run from September 2022 for six months, with an initial meet and greet session facilitated by Creative Access and monthly virtual meetings thereafter.
 
<h3>What do you need to apply?</h3>

An interest in stories and ideas and working in a creative industry

An interest in at least one of the areas or departments in a publishing house

An aim to gain employment in a relevant trainee or entry-level role in the future or to secure support with progressing your career within publishing

A commitment to attend a virtual Meet &amp; Greet session in September 2022 (various date options). The Meet &amp; Greet is a group training session designed to set you and your mentor up with everything you need to get off to a great start.

Responsibilities

<li>Reporting to the publishing director, you will be responsible for a wide range of administrative and editorial tasks, including checking proofs and jackets, writing copy, checking ebook ads, managing invoices, coding and payments, maintaining departmental systems, managing prize submissions and dealing with author and agent correspondence</li>
<li>You will also be tasked with arranging meetings, meeting preparation and research, and taking minutes</li>
<li>You will be responsible for liaising with the team and driving the Doubleday Twitter and Instagram feeds, and will have special responsibility for spotting opportunities to drive backlist sales through updating metadata and copy</li>
<li>You will form part of the team and will contribute to our discussions about submissions, strategy and the marketplace</li>

Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Primarily working with the Managing Director and Publisher of Ebury, you will be handling diary management, event organisation, invoices, travel and meeting prep.</li>

While our offices are places for you to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, having flexibility about where you work is just as important for doing your best work and for your wellbeing. So, we don’t have a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to how we work across Penguin Random House. For this role, there are regular meetings and activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays that you will need to attend in person mainly at our offices in Pimlico. Outside of these moments, you can choose to work remotely.

We’re looking for a production assistant to help produce backlist, co-edition and non-trade orders on the Ladybird, Licensing, Spot and Warne lists, covering series such as Ten Minutes to Bed and Read it Yourself and well-known characters such as Peppa Pig and Peter Rabbit.  
 
Responsibilities

<li>You will work closely with our internal teams, but also with reprographic and print suppliers in the UK, Europe and Asia – controlling pricing, scheduling and ordering through to final delivery and invoicing</li>
<li>You will also provide general support to the rest of the team and assist with the department’s administration</li>

Vintage Books is looking for a metadata and marketing insight assistant to play a key role in ensuring our titles are fully optimised to drive online discoverability and sales and in providing audience insight and analysis to inform business decisions.
This opportunity is offered on a full-time but contract basis. The contract is covering a period of secondment until the end of 2022.
In this role, you’ll work closely with marketing and editorial teams, using data and insight to understand and implement the search terms people use to find books online and the words that will persuade them to click and buy.  
 
Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Day-to-day, you will be responsible for a range of tasks, from running reports relevant to Vintage’s publishing, in particular relating to the Amazon platform, to making metadata (such as keywords) and copy recommendations and making changes to book records</li>
<li>Reporting in to the senior data and marketing insight manager, you’ll also use audience insight and social listening platforms to inform marketing campaigns</li>
