About us

Element Pictures is run by Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe, with offices in Dublin, London, and Belfast. Working across production, distribution, and exhibition, it is one of the most exciting and innovative companies in the global film industry.

Through collaboration with bold, talented creatives, Element Pictures has brought the best in modern filmmaking to the screen, including Lenny Abrahamson’s Academy Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA winning ROOM, Yorgos Lanthimos’ Academy Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA winning THE FAVOURITE, and most recently the record breaking television adaptation of Sally Rooney’s NORMAL PEOPLE. Previous productions include all of Lenny Abrahamson’s films, Yorgos Lanthimos’ English language films THE LOBSTER (Jury Prize, Cannes) and THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER as well as Sebastián Lelio’s DISOBEDIENCE.

Looking ahead, current and upcoming television productions include the television adaptation of Sally Rooney’s debut literary sensation, CONVERSATIONS WITH FRIENDS (BBC Three / HULU); and Shane Meadows’ period drama debut THE GALLOWS POLE (BBC / A24).

Current film productions include Joanna Hogg’s THE ETERNAL DAUGHTER (BBC Films and A24), executive produced by Martin Scorsese and starring Tilda Swinton; Sebastián Lelio’s THE WONDER (Netflix), with Florence Pugh; Yorgos Lanthimos’ POOR THINGS (Searchlight Pictures), starring Emma Stone; and Stephen William’s historical biopic CHEVALIER (Searchlight Pictures), starring Kelvin Harrison Jr

Element Pictures also run a distribution company that offers cinemas throughout Ireland an exciting slate featuring the best of Irish, independent, and event cinema titles, including the Royal Opera House live cinema season. Element also own and run, two of Ireland’s leading independent art house cinemas, Light House in Dublin and Pálás in Galway, which serve up an eclectic mix of international and homegrown cinema from the latest releases to much loved cult classics
