Our Journals Editorial team is responsible for managing the 400 academic journals we publish including multiple field-leading publications and journals published on behalf of the leading scholarly associations in their disciplines globally.
The Journals Editorial intern role will cover a mixture of responsibilities to allow the role holder to obtain a rich experience of tasks undertaken by Journals Editorial staff, develop an excellent understanding of where Journals Editorial sits within the publishing ecosystem and obtain the essential skills required for a career in academic journals or books publishing.
What you'll be doing
As part of this role, you will:
- Assist and shadow a variety of roles across the Journals Editorial team.
- Gain an overview of the academic journal lifecycle from peer review to publication.
- Learn more about the Editors-in-Chief who select the content for each journal and the scholarly associations who own a large number of our journals.
- Provide support on key projects and tasks including conducting market and competitor research, preparing materials for meetings, compilation of key data for reporting and updating journal webpages.
- Spend time with other teams that work closely with Journals Editorial, for example online peer review, operations, production, marketing, sales and books editorial.
What you'll bring
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Excellent understanding of the English language and clear written and verbal communication skills both written and verbal.
- Strong organisational skills including the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
- Experience using Microsoft Outlook and Office, especially Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
