Handle everything from website management to manuscript reading in this exciting agency assistant role.

Eve White Literary Agency, an independent literary agency in London, is recruiting an Agency Assistant. The Agency represents an eclectic list of children’s, fiction and nonfiction authors, featuring many bestsellers and award-winners, including Ruth Ware, Eloise Head, James Norbury, Andy Stanton, Tia Fisher, Luan Goldie, Len Pennie, Han Smith, and Paul Cooper.

The successful candidate will join our busy team of three and work across nearly all aspects of the business. This is an extremely varied role, and no two days will be the same.

 

Key tasks

  • Maintaining the agency website and X
  • Managing diaries for colleagues
  • Invoicing
  • Updating company databases and records
  • Drafting agency rights guides
  • Reading and assessing manuscripts
  • Responding to ad-hoc queries from clients, industry colleagues, and the public
  • Managing office supplies
  • Meeting scheduling, preparation and follow-up

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

Previous publishing experience is not essential, nor is a degree. Nonetheless, the successful applicant will show evidence of the following:

  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Organisational skills, with strong attention to detail
  • The ability to independently organise workload
  • Strong numerical skills
  • A deep interest in agenting, books and the publishing industry 

 

Additional information

The role is a 12-month fixed contract beginning in November and offering from £26,000 per annum depending on experience. The right candidate will have the potential to extend their contract at the end of their tenure.

This is a full-time role based in our office in Pimlico, London at least Mondays-Thursdays 9:30-5:30, with the option of working from home on Fridays. You may be required to work some evenings for events where relevant.
