Combine your creativity and organisational skills to support cover production, visual branding and publishing design across a diverse range of non-fiction books.

Bloomsbury Publishing is a leading independent publishing house, established in 1986, with authors who have won the Nobel, Pulitzer and Booker Prizes, and is the originating publisher and custodian of the Harry Potter series. Bloomsbury has offices in London, New York, New Delhi, Oxford and Sydney. Within Bloomsbury’s Academic division, it publishes under Bloomsbury, as well as under a number of prestigious and historic imprint names.

The special interest division creates original and high quality non-fiction that supports hobbies, enthusiasms and interests. We publish a wide range of subjects including military history; nautical; science and nature; sport and wellbeing; arts and crafts; philosophy; religion; current affairs and business and we are market leaders in many of these areas.

Bloomsbury Special Interest are looking to recruit an Artworker. We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Artworker to work across the numerous Bloomsbury Special Interest Non-fiction imprints, including Sigma (popular science), Green Tree (Health and Wellness), Bloomsbury Sport, Bloomsbury Continuum (Politics, Religion, and Philosophy), Bloomsbury Wildlife, Conway and Reeds (Nautical), Bloomsbury Business and Herbert Press (Craft and Art).

The role

  • As an Artworker, you’ll play a key role in bringing our titles to life. Using Adobe Creative Suite, you’ll create final artwork for reprints and prepare covers for press across our frontlist titles.

  • This is a fast-paced, collaborative role where you’ll work closely with editors and colleagues across the department.
  • You’ll have plenty of opportunity to channel your passion for visual storytelling into creative projects, including rebranding work and designing back covers.
  • Some experience in design or artworking within publishing would be a bonus, but it’s not essential. What matters most is that you’re highly organised, adaptable, and comfortable juggling multiple projects at once in a busy environment.

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Highly proficient in InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Keen eye for detail
