Do you have hands-on experience in organising exhibitions, managing commissions, and liaising with artists?

We are currently looking for a passionate Assistant Curator to join our Site Design team on a part-time, 20 hours per week 6 months fixed term contract. 

As an Assistant Curator – Site Design, you'll assist in curating exhibitions across the Southbank Centre site, and you will be part of a small, fast-paced, and imaginative team, helping to bring global artists' visions to life and ensuring the smooth execution of installations and exhibitions on our iconic site.

You will have a keen eye for detail, a flexible and creative approach to problem-solving, and strong administrative and organisational skills. Knowledge of contemporary art and a passion for making exhibitions accessible and engaging is essential.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Support the development and management of exhibition projects, ensuring smooth delivery.
  • Work directly with external contractors, including artists, architects, and designers.
  • Manage smaller-scale projects and coordinate key exhibition activities, including installations, graphics, and equipment.
  • Oversee exhibition budgets and maintain financial records.
  • Organise events such as private views and talks, and liaise with press and digital teams.
  • Conduct research for upcoming projects, propose artists, and contribute ideas to programme development.
