Work alongside seasoned professionals, supporting creative teams and managing budgets to deliver exceptional productions at Donmar Warehouse.

We are seeking an Assistant Producer who will work closely with the Senior Producer and Company Manager to ensure that all productions are delivered to the best possible standards. The role includes supporting freelance artists and companies to create their best work and working closely with other Donmar departments. 

The successful candidate will have experience of producing theatre productions in the subsidised or commercial theatre sector, with ambitious creative and production teams. They will be a highly skilled administrator with an understanding of and ability to manage production budgets, financial processes and contracts, and will have exceptional attention to detail, time management and prioritisation skills. They will also possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, and enjoy working with a wide variety of people to achieve shared goals. 

This role will suit a candidate looking to consolidate their professional experience gained in a producing theatre or a commercial production company, with ambitions to become a theatre producer or general manager in the future.

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as part of a producing team in a professional producing theatre or commercial production company
  • Experience and understanding of production budgets, departmental budgets, managing expenditure and/or financial reporting
  • Experience of negotiation and drafting creative team, actor and stage managements contracts
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Strong IT skills and computer literacy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive, positive attitude towards working with others and under own initiative
  • High level of attention to detail and precision
  • Ability to prioritise and balance competing demands under pressure
  • Clear understanding of the production process and the various roles within theatre-making

Desirable

  • Experience of working with senior creative teams and artists
  • Experience of working with six figure production budgets
  • Experience of managing press nights
  • Experience of administering payrolls
  • Ability to work at pace in a fast-changing environment
  • Knowledge of Equity/BECTU/MU/WGGB/UKT agreements
  • Good working knowledge of current theatre landscape, including personnel

 

Timeline
