
Audio assistant

Starting salary: £27,000 per annum
Working pattern: This is a full-time position and is a hybrid role, working a minimum of three days per week in our office near to London Bridge.
This role will suit someone who is very organised with fine attention to detail, confidence, and an interest in starting a career in children’s audiobooks.
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our audio team working on Nosy Crow’s award-winning Stories Aloud programme and audiobook list. Following on from this success Nosy Crow is looking to expand our team with our Stories Aloud and audiobook list offering.
Nosy Crow is a multi-award winning, independent children’s publishing company with operations in both the UK and the USA. We make child-focused, parent-friendly children’s books for ages 0-12.
The role will support the audio editor and junior audio editor with admin tasks, scheduling and liaising with internal teams, and studios. The key aim of this role is support the US Stories Aloud and admin tasks across both the US and UK audiobooks and Stories Aloud.
No prior publishing experience is necessary in order to apply for the role.
Key responsibilities
- Updating scheduling timetables
- Obtaining information and material according to schedule
- Checking files for accuracy
- Communicating any scheduling changes to all parties, including senior team members
- Responding to scheduling queries in a timely manner
- Building and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders
- Communicating between several departments and stakeholders to secure US audio recordings and work to allotted timelines
- Ensuring high standards are maintained throughout the process
- Editing US Stories Aloud audio using Garageband using the UK product as a baseline
- Managing audio query email address
- Working to US and UK pub dates and ensuring Stories Aloud launch by relevant deadlines
- Ad hoc creating promotional content for audio
- Ad hoc creating sales materials and/or assisting with pitches
- Communicating and working with other departments internally, especially digital marketing and Nosy Crow North America, about relevant audio projects
Knowledge, skills and experience
- The ability to work with confidential and commercially sensitive information
- Knowledge of Nosy Crow’s list and ethos
- Knowledge of Stories Aloud
- Highly proficient in spoken and written English
- Fine attention to detail (essential)
- Organised, with the ability to prioritise effectively and multitask
- Someone with office or other experience demonstrating reliability and organisation
- A team player with a willingness to be fully involved in the business
- Adaptable and flexible to the needs of the business
- Interest in audiobooks, from their inception to production and publication
- Interest in children’s publishing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel (essential)
- Keenness to learning how to use new technology that may arise as the job grows
- The ability to use editing software, such as Garageband (desirable)
- The ability to use design editing software, such as inDesign (desirable)
