Join professional camera teams on set and learn how TV productions are filmed, from equipment prep through to shoot days.
Since producing the now legendary Brookside, Lime Pictures has gone on to deliver some of TV’s most iconic programmes. Our shows cover a wide range of genres from reality to scripted drama. For over 30 years we’ve pioneered new formats, using TV not only for on-screen storytelling but as an off-screen platform to reach younger audiences. Our shows have also won countless awards including the Double Daytime Emmy winning Free Rein for Netflix, Multi award winning Hollyoaks and of course, the BAFTA winning reality series The Only Way is Essex for ITV.
As a Camera Intern, you will spend the start of your internship shadowing and observing experienced Camera Operators and Camera Assistants. You will then spend time with an experienced team on shoot to follow shoot cycles, learning set etiquette and receive training on the skills required to be a Camera Assistant in TV. Our Camera Assistants ensure that all camera equipment is rigged, de-rigged, maintained and operated safely, assisting all roles within the camera team with efficiency and to a high technical standard.
Key activities
- Helping to set up all camera equipment ensuring it is to hand and ready to use
- Helping to rig any other equipment required such as track and Dolly
- Ensuring all equipment is safely loaded and secured in the van
- Learning how to assist other camera team members with cable bashing and spotting
What you'll learn
The intern will develop a solid understanding of the Camera Assistant role, as well as observing the Camera Operators and Directors of Photography. They will learn how to safely set up all camera equipment, understand how a full shoot cycle works, and how to take instruction from the operator or DOP to understand the best method to capture a scene. They will form a good understanding of camera lenses, focus, framing and shot composition By the end of the placement, they will be in a position to apply for entry level camera roles within the industry.
