Responsibilities
You’ll be based in the children’s editorial department commissioning a handful of titles that are commercial, fast-paced, and diverse, and that brilliantly support our existing publishing. You’ll manage titles through the full publishing process, from acquisition and contract negotiation to editing and publication. You’ll help champion children’s publishing by securing advanced quotes for titles, presenting at sales conferences, and promoting titles internally and externally.
The admin elements to this position include raising costings for acquisitions, proof mailings, checking sales data, sending author & agent copies, and processing invoices. You will also be proofreading baselines, handling Biblio updates, managing expenses and, essentially, writing persuasive copy. This role will be working with the sales, marketing, publicity, rights, and audio teams to help develop meaningful & impactful campaigns.
Knowledge, skills & experience
You’ll have experience working with authors across all age groups, picture books to young adult, and a track record in commercial acquiring. Author care is a vital element of this role at Faber. You’ll have a passion for children’s literature, and will bring editorial expertise, innovation, and creativity to the role. You will have experience in writing excellent copy, presenting your books, and assessing cover designs, plus have a knowledge of publishing process and of Biblio. This is a permanent, full-time position based in our London office in Farringdon. We offer a hybrid working model, with three days a week in the office and two days remote.
