
Comms and marketing manager

Location: Hybrid, to include two days per week in the office across two Creative Access sites in Camden and White City, London; and ad hoc early evening events.

The comms and marketing manager is a pivotal role at Creative Access, working across all parts of the organisation to tell our story, amplify our mission, and expand our reach. You’ll build both our profile and lasting connections with employer partners, candidates and wider creative economy stakeholders.
We’re looking for a creative and strategic individual, with a passion for planning and producing innovative content and engagement across platforms. You’ll be as comfortable writing catchy social media copy as you are creating funny memes and engaging visuals, pitching to journalists and delivering research briefs.
Working closely with the CEO and our Access and Thrive teams, you’ll devise and deliver all day-to-day marketing and communications activities, and line manage the comms co-ordinator.
This is an exciting role for someone wanting to take the next step in their established comms and marketing career, whilst delivering huge social impact in the creative sector and beyond.
Key responsibilities
Planning, strategy and research
- Design, project-manage and deliver creative marketing and communications campaigns
- Identify channels and opportunities to target new audiences, drive engagement and increase reach and engagement
- Work with team members to identify and communicate important messages from their areas of work (these include outreach, recruitment, training and career development programmes as well promoting campaigns like the Creative Access Career Development Bursary and the Mo Siewcharran Fund
- Identify, shape and deliver high impact opportunities to promote our projects/services and the organisation as a whole
- Working with the senior leadership team, design and deliver annual research projects, such as the Thrive survey
- Line-management of the comms coordinator, working together to successfully deliver campaigns and content
Content development and delivery
- Develop, create and deliver visual and written content for all our communication channels
- Ensure content of all our communications is accurate, accessible, inclusive and represents the organisation’s personality, mission and values
- Be a brand guardian: update our style guide regularly; seek out ways to continually deliver best practice in inclusive language/comms; ensure brand message is strong and consistent across all channels and marketing activity
- Support the team in developing and delivering materials and content such as posters, presentations and documents
- Working with our Director of Talent, supervise the marketing of job and internship opportunities, our training and programmes
- Coordinate newsletters for candidates, partners organisations and employer partners
- Market and promote Creative Access events
Online presence
- Manage day to day smooth operation of the Creative Access website, social media channels and oversee the general Creative Access mailbox
- Lead on social media strategy and delivery; working to actively grow and develop all Creative Access’s social media channels
- Engage in search optimisation, advertising and partnership promotions, using Google Ads and LinkedIn in particular
External engagement opportunities
- Media relations; create and manage press campaigns for key announcements, such as new partnerships and research findings - from writing press releases, to producing media lists and pitching to journalists
- Monitoring; identify opportunities for Creative Access in DE&I and creative industry matters such as podcasts, press coverage, speaking slots and award submissions
Data, evaluation and monitoring
- Working with our Systems & Impact Manager, evaluate the effectiveness of our communication methodologies by monitoring and tracking analytics and data
- Feeding into funding applications and reports to internal and external stakeholders
Key skills, behaviours and experience
Essential:
- Previous experience in a marketing or communications role
- A strong understanding of best practice in marketing, PR, social media and communications
- Across latest digital trends, creative AI applications and new developments in social/digital media
- Experience of creating and delivering high quality content across communication channels and online platforms, such as creating videos for TikTok and blogs/copy for our website
- Strong marketing insight, data analysis and evaluation skills (including online evaluation)
- High level of attention to detail and presentation, copywriting and proofreading
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Resourceful, proactive and curious
- Knowledge of Canva, WordPress, Mailchimp, Google AdWords, and Hootsuite
Desirable:
- Understanding and experience of diversity issues and best practice in inclusive comms
- Knowledge of the wider market, competitors and their business models and innovations
- An understanding of creative careers, pathways and roles
- Knowledge of SalesForce and/or comparable CRM’s
