Dance lecturer

Salary: £38,000–£40,000 – FTE / £22,800–£24,000 – 0.6 FTE per annum dependent on skills & experience
Contract type: Part-time (24 hours / 0.6 FTE), permanent & year-round
Hours: 9am to 5pm over three days (or the equivalent number of days)
Location: This role will normally be worked onsite at Rambert School, Twickenham.
We seek an experienced and dynamic dance academic to join the world-renowned faculty of Rambert School.
Rambert School is a world-leading centre of ballet and contemporary dance training; a dance education sector innovator shaping new generations of dance professionals to the highest standard.
As a Dance Lecturer, you will be responsible for module leadership and supervision of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and for ensuring the development of the school's research culture.
Key responsibilities
- Lecturing and module leadership responsibilities on the FD/BA in Ballet & Contemporary Dance and MA in Dance Research for Professional Practitioners.
- Marking and supervision responsibilities for the FD/ BA in Ballet & Contemporary Dance and MA in Dance Research for Professional Practitioners.
- Contributing to and supporting in the development of the research culture at the School.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Essential
- Experience in Higher Education, with a dance focus
- Broader experience in dance practice or academia
- Subject specialism in one area of dance research (e.g. dance history, dance science)
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Undergraduate Degree in dance or a related subject
- Postgraduate Degree in dance or a related subject
- Good organisational skills, ability to multi-task, prioritise effectively and work accurately and to tight deadlines
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office 365 and other MS Office packages, including Word, Excel, Outlook and specific academic software, such as Turnitin
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small academic team
- An active interest in engaging in research activities
- Ability to establish good working relationships at all levels of the organisation, with staff and students
- A personal commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- A personal commitment to self-development and learning on the job
Desirable
- Experience in working within a conservatoire setting
- Experience in module and curriculum development for HE courses
- Experience in the HE course validation process
- PhD holder (or working towards PhD) in dance or a related subject
- Research Publications in dance or related subjects
