Help shape how a world-leading theatre archive functions digitally by working on data migration, quality assurance and system testing.
We are looking for a Data Migration Coordinator to join the National Theatre's Archive team on a 12 Month Fixed Term contract. This newly created role, sitting within the National Theatre Archive team, will assist with the replacement of the Archive’s collections management system and the associated data migration.
The Data Migration Coordinator will undertake data reviewing, cleaning, and migration from the Archive’s current collections management system to a new solution. This role involves working closely with the Archive team, the IT team, and third-party suppliers to support the exporting and importing of legacy data and the testing of the new system, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. This role will support the Archive in continuing to ensure that its collections are well-described and made more accessible to our different research communities. The postholder will also assist the Archivist and Digital Archives Manager (Co-Acting Archives Managers) with additional duties as required to support the wider activity of the National Theatre Archive.
What you'll be doing
Data migration and testing
- Assess and quality-check data held in the current collections management system and map to the new metadata schema
- Undertake data cleaning in the current system or export for cleaning in third-party software
- Manipulate large datasets in Microsoft Excel or other third-party software, using formulae to sort, display, and extract data
- Develop workflows and guidance to support the migration process
- Import legacy/existing data into the new system, including working with scripts to support this work and undertaking quality assurance
- Communicate migration and data errors to the wider Archive team
- Generate regular reports and metrics on the migration process
- Update project tracking software on behalf of the wider Archive team
- Support the broader Archive and IT teams with testing and implementation of the new system with different user groups
- Liaise with relevant National Theatre teams and third-party vendors to support migration
- Carry out any other tasks required on an ad hoc or continuing basis, commensurate with the general level of responsibility of the post.

The successful candidates will have the following:
- Confident with using complex software products, including familiarity with databases or archive/collections management systems.
- Proficient in data management, including demonstrable experience of manipulating large volumes of data and testing workflows for the migration of data or similar digital assets.
- Familiarity with standards in descriptive and technical metadata, e.g. Dublin Core, ISAD(G), and a high level of fluency with XML.
- Excellent organisations skills and experience of working within a team to deliver a complex, time-limited project.
- Ability to use own initiative, showing a proactive approach to work.
- Excellent verbal and writing skills, with a high level of accuracy in English.
