Salary: £27,000 - £31,000 dependent on experience and location (+bonus +benefits)

Location: The role will be based at our London or Sheffield office, with a blend of in-office (3 days) and homeworking (2 days) per week.

What you'll be doing

The Data team at Bookouture is responsible for maintaining and developing our various relational databases, ensuring that our data-driven publishing and marketing teams have full confidence and access to accurate and up-to-date information via innovative data visualisation. As an integral part of the team you'll take ownership of our SQL Server environment, checking the accuracy of data flowing into the business and out to the wider team, as well as developing new workflows to constantly improve the efficiency of our systems.

Who we are looking for

  • Computer science background with experience of relational databases in a workplace a major advantage
  • Strong problem-solver who isn't satisfied with a working solution if a better one exists
  • Performance-minded, with a focus on optimising processes for speed and reliability
  • Detail-oriented, with a sharp eye for data quality, edge cases, and inconsistencies
  • Self-directed and able to drive a task from problem to tested solution
  • Adaptable and comfortable switching tools, languages, or approaches when the situation calls for it
  • Clear communicator. You will be working often with less technical staff, understanding what is being asked of you and explaining what is and isn’t possible clearly is integral. Consistent updates on projects to stakeholders and teams involved is also key
