HarperCollins is looking for a talented Designer (all levels considered) to join the creative team responsible for Fiction, Avon and NonFiction covers.

While publishing experience is not essential the successful candidate will have a strong portfolio that demonstrates a creative approach to a range of briefs. The role will involve creating covers across our Fiction, Avon and NonFiction divisions, from brief to production ready files. You will also be expected to support the day to day duties of the department in producing any additional assets required e.g. for the marketing dept­­.

 

Responsibilities

  • Design market-leading covers for a range of titles, across the Fiction, Avon and NonFiction divisions
  • Support the day to day activities within the department, producing additional assets as and when required
  • Establish regular communication with the Studio Manager to ensure workflow is manageable
  • Work closely with the Deputy Art Director and Art Director to ensure quality solutions to briefs are delivered on time and on budget

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • A portfolio that demonstrates a creative, versatile approach to design
  • Knowledge and understanding of Photoshop and Indesign
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work to deadlines
  • Comfortable working on own initiative
  • Good attention to detail
  • Creative and enthusiastic team player
  • Proactive and personable
  • Resilient and able to take feedback/direction from others
  • Keen reader (desirable but not essential)
