Take your digital project management skills to the team working on this innovative and safe online hub for child-friendly websites that enhance and supports Usborne's non-fiction titles.

Usborne is an independent, family business, creating books which spark curiosity in children of all ages. These range from books for babies such as the bestselling THAT’S NOT MY® series of touchy-feely books, to YA fiction from acclaimed authors such as Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé and Ravena Guron – with everything from Sticker Dolly Dressing to Philosophy for Beginners in between.

Whilst the company is now a market-leader in children’s publishing and one of the best-known brands in children’s books globally, the company retains a friendly and familial feel. If you want to work somewhere close-knit enough for people to know your name, but which has a first-class reputation around the world, Usborne is the place for you.

This role takes responsibility for Usborne Quicklinks, our safe, unique online hub of child-friendly websites specially chosen to enhance and support our non-fiction titles. Quicklinks is widely used by parents, teachers, and librarians across the world. Visit our Quicklinks page here.

The Role

We’re looking for someone to lead and manage everything to do with Quicklinks. This is a wide-ranging, varied role with a mix of project coordination, digital content management, and editorial oversight. The role works closely with our Digital, Editorial, IT and Marketing teams. You’ll oversee the systems, processes, workflows and quality controls that keep Quicklinks running smoothly. Working with the Digital Director on the Quicklinks strategy, you'll also manage a small team (currently a part-time research editor and 2 freelance researchers).

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the overall Quicklinks schedule, ensuring new titles are planned, links are delivered on time, and updates are made regularly
  • Oversee a small in-house and freelance team of researchers and contributors
  • Keep project plans and tracking systems (e.g. Asana) up to date and accurate
  • Ensure all content meets Usborne’s standards of child-safety, relevance and quality
  • Continue to develop our guidelines on which books are suitable for Quicklinks, using Google Analytics and QR cost usage data to inform strategy and prioritisation
  • Write / edit web copy for Quicklinks so the links sound appealing
  • Write Quicklinks copy inside books to describe what types of content users can expect
  • With help from other team members, ensure Quicklinks content is accurately entered into our website content management system and displayed correctly on Usborne.com
  • Working with the rest of the Digital team, make sure the Quicklinks area of the website is well structured and easy to use

What we’re looking for

You might currently be working in digital project coordination, web operations, content or digital publishing. You may have a background in education, libraries or editorial – but with a strong interest in digital processes, structured working, and delivering a high-quality online user experience.

Whatever your background you will need to be:

  • Highly organised, practical and systematic – with a strong sense of process
  • A strong communicator with great writing and editing skills
  • Digitally literate – confident using systems and technology, excel spreadsheets, and structured workflows
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with a head for tracking tasks and maintaining standards
  • Curious and creative, with a good sense of what children, parents and teachers find engaging
  • Experienced in managing 1-2 people and great at working across different teams within an organisation

Experience with website content management systems, Google Analytics, or project management tools like Asana would be a bonus – but full training is available.

Location and Benefits

We offer a 35-hour working week from our offices in Farringdon, London. After a short initial induction period we operate a hybrid working model of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home which we feel optimises our opportunities for collaboration and contact with our colleagues. You'll need to be able to reliably commute to and work from the office on in-person working days.

In addition to our transparent salary grading structure, you’ll also enjoy a generous and thoughtfully designed benefits package, including:

  • 25 days annual holiday (plus bank holidays), rising to 30 days after 5 years
  • Industry-leading pension scheme and life assurance
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme via Health Shield and in-house Mental Health First Aiders
  • Healthcare cashback scheme and virtual GP access
  • A paid volunteering day each year to give back to causes you care about
  • Discounts and perks through our employee rewards programme
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • A 75% staff discount on Usborne books (yes, really!)

Usborne is dedicated to building a diverse taskforce that reflects the wide range of communities that read our books globally. Decisions are made based on the individual’s skills and experiences and we welcome and encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences, particularly those underrepresented in publishing.

Recruitment Process

After an anonymised shortlisting process, we anticipate first interviews taking place virtually around the week of 7th July 2025, with second round interviews in person shortly afterwards.

We are looking for the successful candidate to commence the role as soon as possible.

Please let us know if you require reasonable adjustments at any point during the application and/or recruitment process.
