Launching a career in academic publishing? Streamline content delivery processes and help develop digital resources in this entry-level role.

We are looking for a highly organised and effective Digital Programme Assistant to help scale up and streamline the release of text and multimedia content across our growing portfolio of award-winning digital platforms. You will play a key role by coordinating content delivery across teams and external suppliers, and contributing to the future success of the team.

You will report to the Digital Programme Coordinator and will work closely with the Heads of Product Innovation and their teams, and the Digital Editorial team. There will also be regular liaison with Digital Production and Content Architecture colleagues, as well as external suppliers.

You will be joining a dynamic and friendly digital product team who are re-imagining Bloomsbury’s academic publishing for a digital environment. We are part of Bloomsbury Digital Resources (BDR), which sits within the wider Bloomsbury Academic & Professional Division, an expanding department which recently acquired Rowman & Littlefield.

 

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be:

  • Responsible for processing content from delivery to launch, working with a number of teams internally, including editorial, content architecture, digital production and metadata and discovery colleagues, as well as with external suppliers, and coordinating efforts to ensure timely delivery.
  • Expected to use project management skills and foresight to keep projects on track, anticipate any problems, and escalate any delays, as well as help build products to a high standard.
  • Use Jira and other systems to manage projects, create trackers and report on progress.
  • Responsible for working on and assisting with initiatives to improve processes and standardise ways of working.
  • Maintaining the testing platform and the UX research participant screening and recruitment process.

 

Knowledge, skills and experience 

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Manage their time effectively to get work done on schedule as well as communicate with others effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Be an adept problem-solver with excellent attention to detail and strong IT skills.
  • Have an ability and willingness to learn systems and processes quickly.
  • Previous experience in an academic publishing environment is preferable although not essential however an understanding of digital product development and digital publishing processes is key.

Additional information

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are Wednesday and Thursday.

As an Assistant role, this position is eligible for Bloomsbury’s Rental Deposit Loan Scheme. To assist candidates who want to start and to establish a career in publishing, Bloomsbury offers an interest-free rental deposit to support securing somewhere to live. The rental deposit loan can be up to £3,000 and will be paid back over 2 years.
