DK International - assistant
Salary: £25,000 to £30,000
Location: London
Join a global publishing team where your organisation skills keep international contracts and operations on track.
We’re a team of over 800 people working all over the world, publishing hundreds of books in dozens of languages every year. That’s a lot of moving parts and potential for variance. But the one thing that unites all of that effort and makes everything we do uniquely DK is the way we do it. Call it our ‘DK-ness’. On a basic level, it’s the values we work by and the good we want to put into the world. It’s what sets us apart from other publishers, and like the sea-farers of old, a North star we look up to and navigate our daily journeys by. So without further ado let’s set sail!
Are you the kind of person who gets a genuine thrill from a perfectly organised spreadsheet? Do you love sorting things out and making sure everything is exactly where it should be? We are looking for an Assistant to join our International Rights team. This isn't just about filing papers, it’s about becoming the backbone of our Spanish language publishing team. You’ll be the go-to person who keeps the wheels turning, ensuring smooth operations of the team.
Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Drafting contracts and processing invoices with precision.
- Arranging international travel and managing busy schedules.
- Running reports and maintaining our systems to keep our data clean and useful.
- Working closely with our colleagues in Spain and liaising with internal UK teams to solve problems and smooth out hiccups.
We care more about your attitude and aptitude than a long list of previous job titles. This is a junior role, and we are ready to train the right person.
You’ll be a great fit if:
- You are SUPER organised. You probably have a to-do list for your to-do list. You notice the small details that others miss.
- You are a self-starter. You don’t wait to be told what to do - if you see a problem, you want to fix it.
- You can prioritise. You’re comfortable spinning a few plates and know which one needs to stay in the air.
- You can handle the pace. You are comfortable working under pressure and can manage deadlines and a sense of urgency effectively.
- You are an adaptable communicator. You are just as confident communicating over video calls and email as you are in person. You'll be working with a mix of people across different locations, so being clear and professional in a hybrid environment is key.
And if you can speak Spanish, that’s a bonus!
This is a brilliant entry point into an international business environment. You’ll learn the ‘how’ and ‘why’ behind global rights and operations, working with a supportive team that values curiosity and a willingness to learn. If you’re proactive, detail-oriented, and ready to kickstart your career, we want to hear from you. Please send us your CV with a cover telling us why you would be suitable for this position. Please note: only applications that include a cover letter will be considered.
We have a range of benefits to reflect our commitment to our people, some of which are:
- 25 days paid holiday entitlement in year one, plus bank holidays
- Generous pension scheme
- Volunteering policy and charity matching
- Employee assistance programme
- 70% discount on company books
- Cycle to work scheme and discounted gym membership
- Shopping discounts
- Flex Fridays (1pm Finish*)
- Up to 30 days remote working from abroad*
*Subject to certain criteria being met.
