i is looking for an editorial assistant to help with the day-to-day running of its thriving newsroom.  

As i continues to grow its editorial operation, we are seeking administrative and operational support in the Managing Editor’s office. This role is an exciting opportunity for someone who is personable, eager to learn, a great multi-tasker and has a self-starter attitude. Preferably, the right candidate would also have some prior journalism or newsroom administration experience, but this is not essential.  

 

Responsibilities

Working from i’s London headquarters, the main duties will include:  

  • Assisting with the management of i’s main news rota – mapping, publishing and co-ordinating absence and cover daily, where necessary 
  • Assisting with management of HR processes in the newsroom 
  • Working with other members of the team to check and process timesheets and invoices 
  • Reviewing post from readers and letters to the editor 
  • General newsroom administration including filing, booking travel and coordinating meetings  
  • Assistance with organisation of work experience opportunities  
  • Involvement in ad-hoc projects across all parts of the editorial operation 

This list is not exhaustive and will evolve, with potential to grow and take on other tasks over time. The role is varied and the day-to-day running of i’s newsroom requires meticulous attention to detail, use of initiative and the ability to multi-task.
